Extremely High VRAM Usage (PC)

Hello! I have a brand new pc with a GtX 1070 and the game freezes every minute due to the high VRAM usage.
It seems the average vram usage is around 1080 but mine is around 6800. So almost 7 times over.
I reinstalled ALL my pc drivers, changed my CPU paste already a month ago and even reinstalled the game multiple times.
Even bringing all the setups to “low” or “Minimum” the game is still giving me that prob.

Please help me fixing this

Can you confirm that the VRAM usage is low when not running Heroes of the Storm?

Try using an older driver. The drivers which added support for the RTX series of cards have been known to suffer performance/compatibility issues.

The vram usage reaches the maximum of 1.8 or 2k

I’ve tried to use older drivers but the situation doesn’t change

Could you please confirm what you mean by VRAM.

Are you referring to…

  • The Heroes of the Storm process virtual memory address space size?
  • The amount of dedicated GPU memory being used while running Heroes of the Storm?
  • The amount of physical memory being occupied when running Heroes of the Storm?
  • Some other measurement?

Heroes of the Strom will allocate over 6GB of virtual memory space when used for a very long time. This is not a leak despite its leak like symptoms because it is all being used to cache game data to decrease loading times. This will not cause performance problems if your computer has sufficient memory such as 16 or 32GB of RAM.

that sounds weird. are you sure that isnt in MB instead? like up to 2GB.

anyway, i suggest doing something like this as just a base line test:
download GPU-Z (currently 2.14):

  • run GPU-Z. then go into collection in-game and find zagara.
  • click ‘Try’
  • now walk up toward the gate and place creep all around where its not going to be destroyed and will remain on screen.
  • while malf and arthas are fighting cast your drop and killer abilities.
  • observe as your memory goes up from lots of things being on the screen. probably close to 2GB just because its zagara! she is a graphics intensive hero because of creep and the minions she summons. i actually quantified this recently on my graphics card and she can drop my FPS by minimum 10-15FPS all by herself.

in QM team fights you may get a lot more memory usage with 9 other players skills going off.

I followed all your steps as you just adviced me.

The GPU CORE CLOCK is ALWAYS at 1594,5MHz
and the GPU Memory Clock is fixed at 2003,4 Mhz even in the LOG IN SCREEN!!!

as soon as I start the game the data are the following:
(with and without zagare in the “try” match)
Fps around 29-60
GPU 54°C
VRAM 5997
Ping 1ms
Mem 1420
