Simple, very easy fix that would help the game tremendously and insure quality games in aram.
Step 1 : Actually make the afk offenders into a bannable offense. Afk more than say 3 times a month? Get banned for a whole month. Suddenly, no one afks anymore.
Step 2 : 1 player gets 3 picks of healer. 1 player gets 3 picks of tank. Unless those are disabled which happens once in a while. This ensures a balanced match every single time, avoiding the one way 50/0 stomps whenever a team lacks those options (which happens in like 90% of situations where one team has access to them and the other failed to pick them.)
Simple, effective, quality matches much more often. No more leavers.
I’ve also seen healer comps lose to non healer ones, but OVERWHELMINGLY the non healer comps lose. A 5to15% win rate or something (vague estimation) doesn’t mean it works. I’ve seen murky probius illidan tracer comps win even, that doesn’t mean it’s something you want in your team composition. Most of the time, you want a balanced, hard to win game, one way stomps just suck. And no heal often leads to that, no tank often leads to that.
As for the first, then they will get banned rapidly, again, and only play at low levels. As for the second one, they will still get reported by players, which will lead to bans. And thus problem solved.
I almost did a spit take reading that. There are people who want “ranked” ARAM, they also have a list of talents, heroes, roles (many want a healer to be a compulsory choice) and of course ASAM, to be removed so it’s more “balanced.”
Some changes to remove abominations such as Sgt. Hammer are fine, but ARAM can never be balanced, as aside from the shuffle pick of 3 heroes, you can draft the “perfect” and “balanced” team comp, but as it’s a blind draft, your perfect team comp can be perfectly countered, depending on what the enemy team selects.
This is an issue be you master or bronze, carrying is always harder with a bad comp. The game also gets you to 50% win rate at some point as your mmr goes up and you get better players, so be you master or bronze you end up unable to carry every single game. So please lamer boi wanabe, shush. Adults are talking.
It is random. The player who gets the 3 picks of healer is selected at random. He gets 3 random healers.
Currently, there’s a system that makes it so if your team has 2 choices of healers, there will be 2 choices of healers in the other team, that’s not pure random either. The problem is that if they pick at least 1 and your team doesn’t you get terribly bad matches for both teams in most situations. Which could be solved by imposing healers and tanks.

It will never get to where it could easily be because of stockholders and corporate greed.
Severe punishments have been tried and they lead to smurf accounts.
The only way to truly solve things would be tying punishments to your national identity number like they do in Blizzard games in South Korea. You mess up and you are potentially banned for life from all Blizzard platforms and are unable to make a new account.
But such a thing will never be implemented in western countries - and thus trolling, afking and feeding will never be truly thwarted here.
Well, the issue only arises because smurf accounts can play with other players rapidly, you’re a lvl 40 smurf you get access to games around lvl 1500ish because of your level etc, if you were restricted to games in the low levels with high winrate people, maybe they’d get fed up if they had to wait 10+ min for a game. The real question is do you want to keep those players or make them quit the game entirely? I’d rather have them quit
I agree with your level point, but unfortunately it is the way it is (level 40’s being paired with people who are lvl 1500, 2000 and so on) because there is a lack of players.
Which isn’t fixable at this point of the game. It would require advertising, which requires money.
(And I know that account level doesn’t mean everything & the system is based on MMR instead, but in general those games with gigantic level differences tend to be awful).

I rather play without a tank and healer vs a healer and tank comp, then having people in my Team, who complain about picks or builds. Just s.tfu and play the game.
every player has his own comfort zone.
For example: I am not confident with murky, illidan and tracer. My winrate in aram is far higher then 50% (Even close to 60%) on everyone of them, even thoug I should be far less then 50% if you belive in global statistics.
Why is my winrate that high? Because i have played hundreds of games with this Heroes and I feel confident playing them even into hard counters.
On the other Hand, I Sick extremly with Heroes Like garrosh or DW, but they are considered to be good picks in aram.
So why should I play a heroe, that I suck with, when I could pick something I can play well?
if you force people to play something they dont like, and dont have fun with, they will automatically play with less efford, which will result in a worse game experience for you as well.
Also people might afking if they have to play something unfun.
So take a second to think about this outside of your tryhard meta bubble and let people play what they like.
Until they introduce spell based nerfs in ARAM it will always be unbalanced. Some ranged characters are so insanely broken that you feel like there should be forced picks. This plus for whatever reason the ARAM community is more tryhard than SL and always goes for the broken picks.
People that say ARAM is a joke mode are mad because it’s more fun than the 3-lane version of the game and they know it.
Building good comps in ARAM is paramount. You won’t have a “good” game without one. You could still win, but not without major frustrations and challenges you could do without. ARAM is for learning and being forced to choose a hero you don’t know how to play very well. If you don’t know how to play AT LEAST 33% of the heroes in the game, then you are more likely going to have a bad time in ARAM. One trick ponies come to ARAM to die. All the more reason building good comps in ARAM is the way. Even if you don’t know how to play the hero, playing said hero in a bad comp just delivers poor results.
And the OP has a point, I’ve won maybe twice EVER (in seven years playing this game) with an AI on my team in pvp. The AI all but guarantees you a loss. It is so debilitating to play this game with a leaver on your team. If the leaver is your tank or healer, god help ya.
I think step 2 is the only way to do it where you are guaranteed a tank or healer on every team. Now, maybe there are games where there is no healer or tank, but it will be guaranteed the other team doesn’t have a healer or tank either.
If you click aram mode, you tacitly agree to play the mode as the rules of the mode has provided. I’m suggesting a change on those rules. I also suck on some heroes, sometimes I’m forced to play whitemane, I hate her. Sometimes I have tyrande, I’m good on her but the enemy team is 3 ranged and a joh with double blinds with a lili. Well, rip tyrande.
I’m fine with some randomness. But when your team just griefs by not picking a healer… I’ll always pick the healer if I’m the only one, or if I see no one else pick one, and I feel everyone else should do the same because it’s just essential, and the game was balanced with healers in mind anyways regardless of aram or not aram.
There should be a 3 healer pick and a 3 tank pick, maybe a 3 ranged pick to garantee at least one because all melee comps seldom win and have some EXTREME counters like arthas/xul.

Why even change anything and provide a single balance patch after all? Makes no sense.
There are a lot of people playing aram, I group up a lot to try and avoid the problems I’m talking about, and what I get from other players when I ask about the topic is the same, and heavy approval on my idea most of the time. Leavers / no heal in aram is a death sentence and should be addressed. At least a 3 healer pick forced into aram would be great. Even a healer bot is better than no healer at all.
Sadly the ARAM mains want every benefit ranked gives them without playing sad game mode. They think ARAM is the only place where true skill is showed when all people do is spam QW on cd without a single thought.
The try hards/mirror game haters just want everything to be meta. And now nothing is unique anymore in this game becasue of them.
First off, no one said Aram players think it’s the only place where true skill is showed, that’s a strawman fallacy.
Second, some aram players are also ranked players. Myself I’ve played ranked and peaked in master even if I’d say i’m more of a solid diamond 2-1 player.
It’s not about meta, no one asked for meta, it’s about at least having a healer when the other team has one because you have absolute idiots who pick stuff like valeera rather than pick a healer (using her as example cus she’s the worst winrate in aram according to heroes profile) and you end up severely handicapped / leavers. Leavers are also a problem in ranked btw.

While the idea may not be presented by this OP, since much of the other forum activity had been about same/mirror matches – and players arguments over true/skill/whatever, the post is more particular to context outside this topic than in it.
