Does The Vikings needs a hard nerf?

Hi everyone.

Tooton started an off topic in another thread:

And I want to know is he right or not? Personally I don’t think TLV needs hard nerf, but since I am not a master player so my opinion about it isn’t comparable with these players.

Based on heroesprofile they have a 61% winrate in dia+ and 52% in all ranks:

https://www.heroesprofile.com/Global/Hero/?timeframe_type=minor&timeframe=2.54.3.86223,2.54.2.85894,2.54.2.85576&game_type=sl&league_tier=master,diamond&hero_league_tier=master,diamond&role_league_tier=master,diamond&mirror=Exclude&build_type=Popular

If I compare him to pre-nerf Nazeebo, who was at 53% and now at 50 overall, he might deserves slight nerfs, but not really hard ones statistically, but I don’t really know how to nerf him them. And I would be careful about his winrate in master, because based on master (link) heroes like Tracer or Murky would be far more op as well, but I would say this heroes are rather balanced in their spot.

What would you think about The lost Vikings?

I see Vikings players as a self-selecting group that gets smaller and smaller over the years, and as the players skill increases so does the win rate of the hero.

Vikings has gotten hard nerf so many times, but each time their winrate rebounded to the top no matter how much their numbers got touched (or how they even removed all their active abilities until level 7).

Longboat also got nerfed to the point it barely does damage anymore. Not much effect, people switched to Play Again.

Being able to micro 3 different characters is so good, I doubt their win rate at top MMR would fall much even if they took away all their talents and only allowed them to AA and Spin to Win.

Simply having the ability to soak 3 lanes (or 2 plus a merc camp, etc) is kind of busted in HotS, but I wouldn’t say they are OP. They take tons of skill! I can barely play Vikings after “practicing” for years  Would still avoid SL with them…

I wouldn’t really take what Tooton says at face value lol. He’s the type of person that would stare into the sun until he goes blind, then ask the government to nerf the sun.

And still this guy somehow managed to be diamond (but isn’t able to carry bronze), while I am stucked between silver-gold. So he does sth. right, doesn’t he? But to the topic he isn’t the only one calls TLV op, but I remember Karabars is doing the same. I just used his offtopic as a chance to create this topic to hear other people’s voice.

So what do you think about this topic?

No.

Previous nefr of their basic stats was enough to make them weak laners. It allowed heroes to deal with them easier.

That’s how it’s might end, when you call vikings to objective.

Ever since their previous nerf they’ve been balanced, since nazeebo is currently probably the most ‘meta’ pick, their winrate has stabilised at a relatively high spot, if there was more scary solo laners or macro heroes (like zagara) in the meta, their winrate would plummet like it did when zagara was busted.

TLV is a strong hero, but not hard nerf worthy. Samuro is basically TLV on steroids (some limitations in terms of soak/occupying stuff but wayyyyy more threatening and chaotic), so nerf him first.

You know I’m all for not nerfing TLV, I don’t feel they need it, and personally I don’t want them thrown back into the fire like they were when I first started playing, however…Samuro does not need a nerf I don’t know what your obsession with nerfing samuro in particular is (especially considering his winrate is garbage compared to tlv rn), however he absolutely does not need a nerf if anything I’d be happy to see him buffed.

I think you have high expectations to what the skill in diamond is :joy:

I see them as Medivh, they are broken heroes by concept, that take time to master and team coordination to shine.

Shouldn’t I? I mean I can’t climb to dia, so I must be worse?

So you’re saying they are only op in coordinated games?

From dia 5 to 3 is almost like plat but with a bit more coordination. You can actually be better than players above your rank, i see boosting premades a lot.

If they play macro vikings, yes. A lot of people in sl dont know how to play with them to force the enemy team movements. A coordinated team with medivh is really hard to deal with.

You forget SL is literally RNG + you need most your teammates to play as good as you.

Otherwise you just waste your time.

Vikings require a certain amount of multitasking and attention to pull off correctly, but in essence are completely uninteresting and that’s completely fine. If you feel like they’ve lost power over time, its likely due to persisting xp globes which slightly diminish their main shtick. They still work extremely well on big maps and vehicles. You can easily achieve a snowball with just one objective.

I mean to say its great to have such a hero in the game but I wouldn’t want the devs to bother with them too much (to the same extent as with CG and Abathur). They are still slightly overtuned as a group of three after level 13 and are able to walk over the majority of characters with ease, and nearly each trade goes into their favor.

As for popularity concerns, try a different approach by adding cosmetics. TLV games aren’t particularly fun for either team unless your teammates insist on it, simply because of lack of interactivity with other characters. It’s a 20min game of cat and mouse where you attempt to win through cheap tricks.

Ive played a few games with him. He plays a solid raynor and knows how to macro. His roster is very small though so you cannot really trust his knowledge of other heroes.

Stop making threads about people making one comment in a random thread especially from him of all things.
