never had an issue with this until now. reinstalled the game and it helped for about 3 hrs. now constantly connect/disconnects again. cant use in game chat. how to fix? any blizzard techs still working?
Hey there corndog,
That is odd when voice chat starts connected but then randomly disconnects while playing. Typical causes of voice chat issues are interfering programs, settings, network, or ISP issues. I’ve seen this specific symptom caused by a network setting called SIP ALG. Blizzard does not have information on how to toggle that as each router can be different. What you can do to troubleshoot if this setting is a factor is bypass the router entirely. This can be done by plugging an ethernet cable directly from the system to the modem. If you have a single box for your internet however, then this can’t be done. Another idea that can help though is using an alternative connection. A friend’s or neighbor’s wifi can be used for that or even a mobile tether or hotspot.
If you find any of these ideas help, then you’ll want to check for that SIP ALG setting to toggle it off. You may need to consult the router’s manual or contact your ISP if they supplied the equipment.
Hello Ironthorne,
Thank you for responding!
Would a network issue still be a viable cause even though I’m not experiencing any disconnects to my game play?
It sounds like there’s an issue specific to my computer because my wife plays on the the same network with me and she has no issues.
Any ideas of things I could check on my pc that would all of a sudden cause this issue?
Hey there Corndog,
My apologies for the delay in replying to this.
A network issue can be occurring with voice chat when nothing else is affected such as disconnections or voice programs like Discord not having a problem. VOIP uses a different “pipeline” than others and it can be blocked while everything else works. I can’t say for certain that will fix it, but trying another connection with your affected system should help rule out such a possibility.
Programs may also be a factor. We don’t have any system information to work with however so I can only do a general suggestion to try a selective restart.
If the issue persists, a ticket would be best so we can look into more specific causes for what’s going on here.
