here in europe, it’s hard to tell, when it’s the best time to play. But often you get the annoying enemies in the evening facing the butcher, varian or xul in nearly every match.
Take a break. You are playing like crap because you’re burnt out.
It can happen.
I’m currently patiently waiting for a game where no one on my team will screw up the draft by picking a 2nd bruiser or 3x-4x Assassin.
So far the enemy team always has a normal comp. Bad drafters just happen to be on my team over and over for some random reason. My last game had me 2nd pick Leoric, then a teamate picks Xul (we didn’t have a tank) and decides that he should solo lane. There’s no way we could win that game. And nothing in the game prevents this from happening to the same player several times in a row (As I am living proof)

I know it’s possible to have bad lucky worthy of a curse. But that’s just how things are. It’s low chances, but it’s possible.
But it’s unlikely. Just like you could roll a dice 10 times and roll a 1 all 10 times.
The thing is, since you can’t control luck (aka your teammates in this case), just stop worrying about it and go with it.
Meanwhile people don’t often notice when it’s on the enemy team where the bad luck lies. Maybe worse than yours in other ways than a bad draft.
And they don’t care as much that the enemy screwed up.
Bad things are more memorable and commentable. That’s just how it is. Like how a place like a restaurant or some handyshop could have 100 occurances of great, exemplary acts of great customer service and maybe receive a single formal ‘praise’ to the boss/website/whatever, but have 5 cases of bad service and receive 1-5 cases of formal complaints.
Also, as far as draft is concerned, and this is coming from a mainly QM/ARAM perspective, so is there no such thing as a 100% game lost at draft.
I’ve had plenty of games of bad drafts and won them despite that, in UR/ranked, or just weird setups in QM.
No healer.
Won it.
No tanks.
Won it.
Neither.
Won it
Weirdly countered in QM by RNG?
Won it.
Semi afker?
Won it.
AI from the get-go or halfway into the match?
Won it.
And I’m sure you’ve won those too, and if not, it’s just a matter of time.
One time I even won an ARAM with 1 guy who completely stopped playing like a minute into the game, but avoided getting kicked.
Despite this, we won. Literally 4v5’d the enemy,. Onesidedly too. Too bad it was one of the no-replays brawls, really wanted to keep that replay.
For me, there’s a different mentality when I play coming from my fondness and experience from QM/ARAM.
I just don’t care about the draft in the end:
Sure, I’d like an ideal draft.
But that’s not that likely when you just go solo q’ing in QM/Brawl.
On brawl it’s even worse than QM. There you have little control and can get often or easily get some nonsense because one guy was afk during draft and your team has no healer and the enemy gets one or two uthers.
So why care about it?
I just play my best to win and focus on that.
Besides, it’s not like your team is supposed to carry you, right?
If we assume that you are truly being held back by rng of your teammates being worse than you in ranked, When you’re stuck in, say, gold 3, but you believe you deserve to be diamond 5 at least, then your gold 3 team members should be far beneath you, and so should your enemies. (except in cases of smurfs… but who cares, just beat him.)
As such, you should climb. With enough games, the bad lucky should even out and your higher skill than your peers will make you win the ones where luck wasn’t involved and use your higher skill to compensate for some bad luck in your team.
Like if one of your teammates in a 5v5 is playing as 0.5 of a persons, so it’s sorta like playing 4.5vs5 , then just you yourself play 1.6 worth’s so it’s 5.1vs5.
Say that you’re playing ranked and you have this scenario: First you play with these 4 guys against these 5 while solo queueing SL. Then next game you play against your old team together with your old enemy team(well, 4 of them).
If you then are the better player in this scenario among the rest, then you should win both.
Although that may not happen in case of bad luck or the likes, but that’s the mentality one should have, afterall, you are the one trying to climb here, the other guys are supposed to be where they rightly should be.
As far as some weird advice out of nowhere…
You know how in sports, when the enemy scores a point, one’s teammates, particularly the captain or some types of such, would say “We’ll get that point back right away and then get another one to win!”
This rarely occurs when we play games like this. But it’s quite important, don’t you think? It keeps focus up and what not.
Just like how I imagine that small compliments can help. You see a teammate do a nice move, compliment him. People love compliments. It’s likely to make them focus even more, as to stay worthy of that comment, and maybe get another one. And also avoid losing any possibly gained respect.
Say a guy in soccer gets the ball at a great chance, wide open or something, then misses. Maybe completely misses.
Typically he’d say something “Sorry, my bad. I’ll score next time!”
While people may reflect inside after a big fail in HotS, so can’t your team see you reflecting. Also, one should try to show that you are aware of the mistake as well as saying it in a way to imply it’s not going to be repeating occurance. You don’t want your team to stop relying on you, right? (You are supposed to be the one climbing here…!)
This post got a little longer than I originally intended… well, maybe it’s something to chew on.
No joke uninstall. Take a week break, then come back.
I am at the point I refuse to play with anything shy of a 4 stack. Trust me if you are playing solo Qm or any mode for that matter is just a waste of time.
I’ve had pretty bad losing sprees where I lost for like 2 days straight, playing all weekend. Days after that the matches were a joke lol. Easiest wins of my life.
Well, this is where you have to make a choice.
I know eventually what the reason will be when I stop playing. Because frustrating games are more numerous than enjoyable one.
But I do notice when it’s on the enemy team. While everyone on my team is congratulating themselves on their win and skill. I notice that the enemy comp didn’t make it likely for them to win.
Winning games with a horrible comp is based on the luck of having an opponent so bad that you can win anyway. Winning these games certainly isn’t the norm.
Both times my friend has queued valeera in QM the past three days, he’s gone up against a triple-tank team. lol
he tilted out of his mind once the 2nd game rolled around. Thing is, he didn’t take Combat Readiness instead of Crippling Poison at level 1 vs. Leo+DW (+mura), which honestly could have made a big difference in the outcome of game 2. But it is pretty annoying trying to play a gank-style hero into 3 strong frontliners. Also, he may have been able to play fights slower than he did, I wouldn’t know because I wasn’t watching, but a team with 3 tanks has some pretty glaring weaknesses against some teams who can kite them effectively.
