The MM isn’t against anyone in particular, although in a roundabout way, it could be.
QM has a “Buddy-mentor” matchmaker that puts together high MMR with low MMR on both sides to create an ‘equal’ match. So let’s say that you’re diamond 3 in QM’s mmr ranking.
it could then put you together with a bronze and a few gold-platinums. Meanwhile, the enemy team also has a diamond 3, a bronze and a gold-platinums.
While ‘technically’ fair, what the bronzies are playing can tilt the favour of the match. Like having the healer on your team be a clueless bronze while the enemy bronze is 1 of the 3 assassins on their team. Or some zagara who just has to push to get some value while your team doesn’t have anyone good at ganking her.
This comes down to RNG again though.
But what I could imagine is that, if you had some bad luck in your first couple of losses, that you got tilted and as a result play worse than you usually do, start flaming more than you usually do or start getting into arguments with another flamer in the match, or something.
There could be a myriad of reasons. Also, it is the weekend, and the weekends are known as resulting in lower quality matches, as the players who have way less time on their hands in their life, can finally play a little. Common thing for players to do is to not play ranked during the weekends.
My overall point is that the matchmaker isn’t against anyone in particular.
If anything, you may have had a streak of insanely bad luck worthy of a gypsy curse.
But in my eyes, it is also possible that you may have had something to do with it, by tilting and what not.
I mean, I see these types of players occasionally in games – the types that start flaming or calling gg within the first 3 minutes for some silly reasons.
Or they start semi-afking or go “Screw it, I’m just gonna splitpush all day because I’m mad at this Anduin who failed to heal me”
These players lose games more frequently than others, not because of a difference in skill, but because of a difference in mental fortitude and a tendency to start flinging poo when things doesn’t go their way, since they also cause their team to play less seriously and be too occupied with flaming eachother.
People like this also has a sort of landslide effect. One guy who goes GG at 3 minutes and flames the Tracer and another player who is a similar type starts semi afking since he feels that he can start afking for justified reasons because another guy is doing it. Or he easily takes the bait and starts a flamewar.
