Stacks abuse smurfs to farm honest players and honest players retaliate by forming stacks and smurfing themselves or just quit the game, further increasing the concentration of cheaters.
Stacks in ranked have caused Storm League to devolve into a vicious cycle of smurf and stack abuse.
What I would personally love to see, is some grace time after you were adjusted to play against a full stack. It’s not fun when you only have time to play 3 games and each one of them is against full stack… that’s my yesterday’s experience with this game and i’m done with hots for now.
Meeting the same team 2 times in a row is also a cynical thing. Same guys, same tryhard teamcomp , same stomp… you get the point.
There’s nothing more boring than playing against full stack.
I don’t totally disagree with either of you, smurfing with stacks is pretty unpleasant in both QM and Ranked. What server do you play on? I ask because I don’t get matched vs a full 5 stack very often, and much less so twice in a row.
Could make a long argument about playing the same opponents again. You have a different team, and your MMR is lower, theirs is higher, so you get better teammates. So arguably in such a setup you have a significantly better chance to win and you absolutely should. I mean, 52% instead of 48% and somesuch. But the randomness of MMR can bite you. But-but five stacks are quite adjusted. So just repeating something some forum regulars say about MMR verification, if you lose twice to the same stack, the problem is likely you. Likely.
On top of that, there is a bit of a banter potential. Loss and comeback. Win twice. Or, well, lose twice.
Ignore specifics, point is - it’s clumsy to implement extra rules and it’s arguable.
The most simple solution - whenever you lose, wait a few minutes.
Overall it’s fairly rare to me as well, but there was a day when I had it over and over. Different teams.
Is there a solution to curb these parties?
Like, if they win a lot, their MMR rises, so they simply don’t find a match for hours on end, until they break up?
Smurfing is bad for the game, but there is nothing wrong with playing in stacks itself.
The game wants you to play in stacks by handing out extra XP to those players.
Fafadebelem plays on South America which is void of high MMR’s. So stacks of plats can terrorize games forever without meeting their equal or better. They can have +95% win rates after hundreds of QM/SL games which is simply impossible on EU or US.
It wont sideline those players, it will expand search and throw them into the first available match.
There is no solution to his specific problem except changing servers, as the population of SA is so low.
This is an utopia, my friend. U cant design the game for the stacks in detriment of the non-stacks players, just think a little… this is the road to ruin. Regular, fixe stacks are a small minority. The overwhelming majority of the community are random individual players, they can stack sometimes, but this cannot be a requirement.
Even if they didn’t hand out bonus experience for stacks, a lot of people would choose to 5 stack instead of go solo.
-No risk of ever getting a troll or afk
-No risk of getting a leaver who never moves and leaves after 1 minute
-No risk of toxics and feeders who start dying on purpose
-Higher group cohesion, ability to coordinate ults, stuns, portals etc. together
-Better shot calling potential, all players have agreed to listen to 1 player
-Guaranteed role picks in draft, no random player troll picking in draft
Even without smurfing, a stack has huge advantages that eliminate most negatives of playing HotS. These benefits are so big Blizzard applies a severe MMR handicap to premades who play vs solos.
Unless they literally disable parties, most serious players will prefer to stack because it’s more fun to play without those disturbing factors.
Btw, this is the pic you posted before:
It still contains no evidence that vsAI is filtered out. SL is 53% wr.
What to blame on the system? Allowing parties in a teamgame? Not filtering out Smurfs? With that winrate, their MMR is in the skies probably, if they play with you it’s because there aren’t others playing, the system can only do one thing in that case: not giving you a game.
People abuse the solo anyway in these 4+1 games. It’s the worst match type to get into as a solo.
I like how old TL had a phase where only 2, 3 and 5 stacks were allowed (later they allowed all party sizes). Not 4 stacks. To prevent those solos getting horrible games where upon a loss they get instantly 4 reports.
I could understand if it comes back, but I hated it. We with my friends often could get only 4 men premades for TL, so we jsut didn’t TL, cuz inviting random ppl for 5th is not really reliable.
