Anyone else excited for the Exp change?

Yet to be shut down so far!

I think the opposite is good for the game. It’s too easy to passively soak exp. It means ranged damage dealers can trade damage and still get soak no issues.

Maybe that’s the point. Assassin are able to easily soak and trade damage in lane right now. Passive soak isn’t great for the player base either. There needs to be a negative to bad play.

I think last hitting a minion should pull the exp. That sounds like a decent compromise for this change going live.

I can’t wait to test it! I really don’t want to wait another week for a PTR.

You need to chill out dude.

Whatever you say. Giving you attention just adds to it so I’m done doing that. Enjoy the troll game I hope it catches up to you someday.

So if I have a bad team, that doesn’t know to soak all lanes, and I, as some ranged assassin, whose job isn’t soaking, am forced to soak for them, will be punished. Not only am I punished by bad teammates, who force me to do their job, but I also get punished by this new system, because I’m not supposed to be able to cover for my teammate’s bad decisions.

This is the game currently. The issue is that assassin can lane+. It’s not hard for them to push damage and soak. This change doesn’t mean you can’t lane, just that it comes with more risk. That seems like a fair change to at least test in depth on the live servers.

Look. Can you just let this post fall to obscurity. I don’t want devs seeing any support for this. I get you have your opinion but for the good of the playerbase who really don’t want this don’t force it on us. Just let us stay the way we’ve been playing.

Stop replying? I mean I’m pretty sure the devs already know that the public opinion about this change has been against it there’s nothing wrong in someone expressing their opinion.

No. I won’t be censored in my support of what is right

No. I genuinely feel this change is a good idea. I think it will have a positive outcome on the game and community. Even if it doesn’t no worries as it won’t be permanent. Chances are this is a long test to see if permanent exp changes should come and if so what they might be.

Well nobody cares cause everyone is against you and if you go against the playerbase then that’s on you. But if the changes suck and we are forced to experience them for a long time then you’d better believe people will be pointing the finger at you for helping this come to fruition. Whether that’s fair or not doesn’t matter. Just how it’ll be.

Not at all true. most of the non-doomsayers are for this change.

So, just five people then. Yeah, good luck. You’re gonna get trampled on.

I am cautiously optimistic, because I feel that anything that shakes up the meta is refreshing. I do share some of the concerns, especially in the less organized modes (QM), but since I normally play tanks or lane bully bruisers, it shouldn’t affect me personally as much. I can see it making split soaking a different type of challenge, and the potential to see heroes like Dehaka become top tier again.

why are we listening to a panda?? HOS doesnt need this this fairy orb xp nonsense and you full well know it, stop PANDAring and get off the forums you make me sick

I remember when the removal of tower ammo made Abathur’s Locust useless. Except they made some changes to his Locust, buffing their base power and changing his talents a bit.
If Abathur struggles because he can’t body soak as well, his symbiote will be buffed. Easy fix.

Vikings are easy too. Don’t AFK them in bushes. If you can’t focus on 3 vikings spread accross the map, group them in 2 lanes, or even in 1. Worst case scenario they give them some talent changes so the 1 lane style is better. Easy fix.

I’m curious how it will work out. I know it isn’t the doom and gloom people say it is. But I can’t say it will be an improvement, or is needed, until some facts like globe range are tested, or if abilities killing minions grants experience even if the hero isn’t in range and the devs can alter those as it goes on.

For most heroes this will probably be a pretty benign change and not really impact much of anything since they’d likely step up to grab the regen orb anyways and pick up the xp orbs by accident… There will be some long range heroes like Azmodan and Hammer that will be impacted negatively but not by so much as to render them unplayable

What I dislike about this, and to me this is a big deal breaker on this, is that it makes Abathur and The Lost Vikings nigh useless. These are already two of the toughest heroes in the game to play well and this makes them so much harder and reduces the impact they can have. A major skill for abathur players is knowing when it is safe to pop out of your base into the bushes to soak with your body while nobody is looking. If you have to pop out to get orbs you’ll get noticed a lot faster and doing that as a means of pushing a lane beyond the first towers is a death wish. The lost vikings exist to soak 3 lanes at once but because minion waves are mostly synched up to each other it will be a herculean feat of micro management to be able to gather the same xp on them.

I also see a problem in that this doesn’t so much encourage more activity in the solo lane but rather the opposite. It encourages freezing lanes close to your side of the map so that you can safely get your xp orbs while making it risky for the enemy to do the same

I could have sworn I read one of the devs say something to the effect of “if these change then this’ll be an even bigger reason to finally rework the vikings to have more impact other then laning”

If that’s the case then the handful of examples we’re seeing issue with could very well be on he devs radar

Correction. The Lost Vikings are capable of soaking 3 lanes at once.
I’ve been playing them solo lane. Many of those game have had an opposing Li-Ming or Butcher. I’ve won most of them. The ones I’ve lost have largely been the ones where allies stop trying because they insist I’m playing them wrong. But that can’t be the case, since I’m winning most of the ones where I don’t have allies who throw.

As someone who hasn’t seen this new thing yet, I have to consider some of the core controlling items in the game.

  • AOE
  • CROWD CONTROL
  • AUTO ATTACK HEROES

Heroes of the Storm revolves around these items. Tanking and healing are important too, critical for a good comp, but aoe and cc’s are dominating effects. Teams are easily punished for grouping up too tightly vs certain heroes. Kael’Thas is a power house at aoe effects. An exp orb on the ground, let’s bait heroes to it with a flame strike in hand.

Curious about it, for sure not excited about it. I am excited to hear they can roll this back quickly if it’s a disaster. If they will do so is another matter.
