Am I the only one who doesn't like these new forums?

No they don’t.

Every time this is studied the results conclude that upvotes have very little effect on a poster’s future behavior, but downvotes on the other hand breed negativity within the community as it actually DOES change the behavior of the poster in the future.

The hive mind is created out of the downvotes, not the upvotes.

cuz evidently nothing bad has ever happened by someone shouting ‘fire’ in a crowded theater. I mean its not like there are laws that punish false inflammatory claims, public obscenity or libel & slander, right?

Every time, huh?

So I guess that time doesn’t count. Or ya know, the other times other articles were posted at you in response to your previous claims on the old boards. :stuck_out_tongue:

While that is just one study, the conclusion isn’t just that the negative votes of that experiment had little impact, but the herding effect was seen to be caused by artificial positive momentum.

Would you like that I go hit up some of the archive topics before and repeat some of the other studies that were posted? Cuz some of those I recall were more keen to assess that the expectations of the ‘vote’ were particular to the environment at hand, and was less prone to sweeping generalizations that concluded one to inherently be good/bad and the other the opposite.

I personally think this forum is much harder to use than previously. I’ll give it some time, maybe there is something we are all missing…or maybe it just got worse.

No, this format is garbage.

Are you like… some sort of rep for these discourse people? Sure seems like it. whenever someone even mentions downvoting you go into this whole spiel about “Oh, this is the best, and blah-dee-blah.” I swear I see you everywhere.

No. This isn’t the best, not by far. Quite frankly, the way it’s laid out and designed… while the basic functions work smoothly I’d say, as a forum it’s the worst I’ve ever experienced because of the idealism that’s behind its design which inherently mars the user experience by intentionally limiting the user’s tools and supporting the agenda of only one side of an argument.

You can agree or like mindlessly (up to a certain amount each day for some godawful reason) but if you dislike you’re, for some reason, expected to say so and explain why when the other side of the argument simply doesn’t?

That’s some hypocritical nonsense.

You can stop trying to convince people this Discourse nonsense is any good… no one that wasn’t already on board is convinced, nor will they ever be.

I get honest to god panic attacks navigating the user interface. its layout and functionality is about as counter-intuitive as late 90’s first person shooters.

Couldn’t agree more. Its full of steps backwards. I can’t preview threads, I can’t skip to last page, can’t downvote, lots of icons and extra windows I don’t need. Yuck!

It’s pretty weak. It looks like the League of Legends forums in style, and Riot basically copied their ‘new’/current forum layout from Reddit.

This new HotS forum looks like a more minimalist version of Overwatch, but then added a bunch of other visual clutter. Some of it is neat, but it could very easily be condensed to the side–out of the way of what matters: the posts.

Also can’t figure out how to get to my post history to follow up on threads im in

It’s been unwieldy on mobile. For some reason while reading a thread, it’ll randomly refresh and jump way away from where I was reading. Don’t care for it.

Any examples of tools you prefer?

Interesting. What do you dislike about its overall design or layout?

Boy. You really did like them downvotes lol

The arguments aren’t one sided at all. You merely need use your words to present your other side.

Yep! They find that requiring users to explain or verbally express their disapproval / dislike contributes to more overal discussion, versus the opposite.

why? Just because you don’t like it? I’m good.

It must be quite interesting to talk for everybody and know whay everyone thinks.

Jesus Christ, how disgusting new design is! What the hell, Blizzard? This is just horrify!

I like these new forums more than the old ones. Also I like that the old forums are still online.

This forum would’ve been better if they kept the old interface. When they changed WoW’s, it still stayed the same. Past the emojis, there’s very few things to like about this new change.

Games don’t really need to give you a forum or anything else more than the game. It’s not like you would stop playing if there was no forum. Be glad that you have one, especially if it’s purple.

Don’t try to fix it if it’s not broken?
Well, Blizz is always doing the opposite. Not just with heroes and maps, but obviously with the forum as well…

One huge thing that stands out as missing is the ability to mute accounts.

Forums are a different beast. If you can get a better deal on your internet provider are you going to turn it down because your current one isn’t broken? The forum software is not blizzards. Maybe the forum hosting service they had before went out of business, maybe support ended. Maybe they were referred to it by someone else and they liked the ideas present. There are all sorts of reasons to replace things that aren’t broken.
