Am I the only one who doesn't like these new forums?

It’s a bit overwhelming, I admit. So much information, so many buttons. At this moment it even tells me who else is replying RIGHT NOW.
Like, okay?

I just hate the layout. Too much crap on one page, I prefer simple and clean.

And suddenly it feels I am the only one who liked the new forums :joy:

I just like you don’t need to refresh a page to see new replies. Thousand times happened to me answering a question that is already answered.

Wait… WHAT? LOL… gonna save my likes then :joy::joy:

okay I don’t really know if I like the changes to these forums I tried to post a different message than this but got this error message (imgur link used to be here) and I don’t think it’s letting me post it unless I change it drastically, I tried adding a period at the end but it wasn’t enough to let me post

I understand that blizzard wants to encourage more thought out responses rather than mindless rage but i don’t feel like censorship is the right way to do it, people should be able to post what they want in the way they even if it’s not in depth or intelligent, and not always controlled, maybe encouraging me to elicit an in depth response on the side would be ok but disallowing me to post it at all doesn’t feel fair and like a censorship of freedom of speech

onto why i think downvotes should be allowed, likes are allowed, so it logically follows for dislikes to be allowed

likes are supposed to be a way to express your opinion on something and not have to type out a full response to it, there are times when you genuinely dislike/disagree with something, or thought it was bad so wish to dislike it, this did lead people to express anger/hatred towards others, but i don’t feel like censoring it by getting rid of dislikes was the right way to go about it, the hatred/anger still remains it’s just that the means of expressing it is reduced, and people should still have their right to express dislike

okay well i tried to post the new message but links aren’t allowed, basically the imgur link was of me typing “BRING BACK DOWNVOTES” in all capital letters but receiving an error message saying “body seems unclear, is it a complete sentence?” and being rendered unable to post

It would be nearly perfect for me when it comes to “cleanliness” if I could remove that crap under the last post of the thread and these silly icons under OP, I dont really care about (I guess only OP does).
Other than that its pretty good.

I dont get why we cant down vote things now. We know for a fact trolls will abuse this system. To me the old system allowed me to determine if the thread was worth my time with seeing the first few lines. Now I need to click to see what it’s about at least on the phone version.

On my phone it’s an empty page with Blizzard logo on it. At least it’s working on your phone :angry:

All of this is a waste if we don’t get a “block user” option :broken_heart:

I’m surprised how common this sentiment is. Do you guys really think you were doing anything but encouraging the “trolls” by downvoting? Always looked to me like you were giving them an easy way to track their asshurt high score.

On top of that maybe don’t make threads about how you don’t have enough flags for all their posts.

Add “I think” to any title lol
“I Think Blaze is OP”

I think blizzard was looking for a new forum and this was the best one. However it also has the strongest protection against trolls and those protections are quite stringent and may be viewed as censorship ( whether they are or not is a different discussion all together).

I’m not a fan of the new forums myself as, as I’ve seen others post, they feel less of a ‘forum’ and more of a different platform. On the other hand, I can understand the shift as people are less inclined to actually care about forum particulars (how dare someone make a long-post that requires reading in a format that allows long posts!) and chose to stick to tropes from whatever media-platform they did prefer and just chose to assume all the other same quirks applied.

I myself do miss the ‘downvote’ button, as, unlike the general nay-say against it, there’s three main issues that tend to be overlooked:

  1. the idea that one could ‘upvote’ a contrary post means that you’re forgoing the particulars in favor of just a tl/dr for the sake of expressing something and doesn’t convey what the like is supposed to mean, which is just the same as the previous decry of the downvote, so the assertion doing the reverse here now is evidently a double-standard.

  2. Upvoting a post contrary to one I would ‘dislike’ overlooks that said post could have equally, if not more so, unlikable things about it. Conversations aren’t so polarized that things are either ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ or like/dislike and that someone will then post the exact particulars to be the anti-thesis of a given post. The assertion something could be done in that regard is over-generalizing things into two particular scenarios, which well, when given how people argued against ‘downvotes’ isn’t surprising that they cast their argument to be a false-dilemma that then suits the reverse notion mentioned above, which reinforces the double-standard.

  3. Some posts are ‘dislikable’ because they’re off-topic, post wrong information, and a myriad of other things that aren’t just about how popular/unpopular an opening post will be. However, the fixation for how ‘bad’ they were tends to well, just fixate, and then claim a reverse of the case (mentioned above) is sub for that, and its just missing context in favor of projection.

But all that said, my evaluation of the ‘forum’ as present isn’t just particular to the direction of a thumb, and does include other details, but given that that topic still comes up, I thought I’d give some particulars why instead of just “upvoting” a post that doesn’t exist.

I do thing the flag option being just a few bullet point and not being able to give more particulars is just another sign of tl/dr for ‘forum’ moderation, and is lacking as a middle ground compared to demanding direct sanction due to hitting flag quotas or blocking users directly.

What protection from Trolls? We already have multiple HoH accounts active, one of which is already up to 49 posts.

You guys are making him really successful. The response to him as a result of the forums changes are probably more encouraging then the changes themselves.

Don’t feed the troll.

I’m wavering between disliking and despising them. Too many pointless things, and I feel many of them are intruding on what I come here to do (i.e. read things that people write).

But if this new forum really has the best “anti-troll” features, then it shouldn’t matter if we feed the Troll. I just want to know when these features will kick in and solve our troll problem.

Who said that? I said you are aiding rather than combating your problem. Secondly downvotes are a response (Which I’m sure is your main issue with the new forum), responses encourage trolls.

Ignore them, that’s your solution.

why is there no option to ignore/block posts/users like on every single forum since near the beginning of forums on the internet?

These new forums are far too busy… and lack of Disagree button is troubling

Also, the text is thin and off white which makes readability harder than the old forums.
