Zephyrs Is a Mistake

Just like Pocket Galaxy was 5 mana do nothing. The stats say otherwise.

Luna is soooo different… the instalment paid is so little. Say they top deck kalegos, thats 6 mana for a 10 mana card, then top deck another alexstrazza, that 7 mana for 19 mana. The regain in tempo is real.

Murloc paladin? Pay 4 mana for lens, say trade into a 3 mana card, and paid 3 mana for tip the scale, thats paying 7 mana for 8 mana card. Tell me they are the same in term of mana cheating.

The main reason why the nerf affect the win rate so much is because that deck is vulnerable to most aggro and mid range deck to begin with. Luna at 5 allow turn 6 and 7 be a big swing turn to regain control. Meanwhile at 7, they are already dying and doing nothing that turn is game ending. If they survived a little longer, turn 8,9 , 10 swing turn will still be insane. Sadly mage lack survival tools now.

Zephrys is a dumb (edit : Too clever!) and unfun card.

Its give lethal to aggro turn 4-5 with soul of the forest, bloodlust, or fireball pyroblast later. Its gives board clear to aggro when they shouldn’t have board clear. it can be bounced of hand, giving to some deck such as singleton hunter or battlecry shaman the ability to find the perfect answers (most annoying card for you) two turn in a row.

When you have it, okay, feel nice to have zephyr autowin the game for you. When you play against it , its very annoying, because the opponent gets out of situations he shouldn’t have gotten out with his class, or get a lethal that he could never have otherwise. it’s too versatile, it has no counterplay .

But yeah, all of that has already been said, so w/e.

I almost guarantee its gonna get nerfed within 2 years.

This card is toxic. Basically Blizz is making this a mandatory card and is OP for control decks. After my opponent plays it I’m ready to concede every time. With all the updates to this card’s mechanics I’m sure they don’t want to nerf it. But if it’s not, I’m out. Too annoying.

whats so good about it? okay they can zephyrs and twisting nether. They wipe your board so? Its your turn again. You can refill the board with anything. If you even have deathrattle minion, you still have board advantage. Zephyrs is more annoying when it give your opponent lethal but its just expectation. If i play against aggro, idw to keep my health at 6 due to leeroy. Same as playing a deck that have zephyrs. The most mild form of Zephyrs is probably use for tempo, a tririon or a brightwing/ animal companion is perfectly fine too.

What is so good about zephyr? You serious bro? Apart from winning the game with cards you shouldn’t have access to…>>>>???

5 Scenarios

  1. Zephyr for savage roar and im dead vs opponent that isn’t druid. Guess I have to play around bloodlust and savage roar all the time now.
  2. Zephyr for mass dispel and quest paladin is dead
  3. Zephyr for pyroball from highlander hunter smorcing my face with charging beasts, hero power, and weapons and yah im dead.
  4. Zephyr for whatever tech card I need to kill murlocs, weapons, secrets, ect. Bye bye all other tech cards. Now useless. My fav is when I discover flare vs a secret hunter with 5 secrets up. They always insta concede.
  5. Zephyr for meh I already conceded while they discover whatever it is I cant think of that instantly wins…oh it was twisting nether for my invincible CC made mage board. And they returned genie to hand. And Im dead.

Have you tried to win without Zephris with mage?, it is impossible, totally impossible :v

yeah he’s pretty broken tbh. that’s the point of the card tho he’s suppose to give broken answers when you don’t have one. I agree tho if you removed him the game would feel better not losing because a single card turned the fate of the game.

It is good because it blatantly breaks essential class limitations well beyond the norm.

For example it gives Zoo like decks blood lust and savage roar. It gives hunter mass dispell. These are game breaking cards that these decks never could access. That’s why it is so good. The highlander limitation is marginal because either the decks can thin themselves to where they have uniques or the card options now available make it such that running only one of each doesn’t create a meaningful limitation anymore.

You should try it yourself on non highlander deck and see how inconsistent it is. I played a druid version of it with elise and have 4 zephyrs at hand and I still lost. While it’s good at finding answer, it’s pretty honest and not some crazy swing turn like conjurer khadgar in the past or some polaris big board fill. You pay the mana for the answer that’s about it. Zephyrs cannot deal with medium size board with deathrattle because neither mass dispel nor twisting nether truly dealt with it. While zephyrs provide burst, its already a swamped board to begin with and you are already behind. Its most powerful usage is generally finding lethal which its way more consistent in a highlander version deck compared to hey let me draw my dups first and hopefully zephyrs is active when I have a good board.

I have tried many highlander decks. And it confirms my opinion.

Yea i am saying non highlander deck. So idk what is ur reply for.

The non highlander deck, without question, is going to be less consistent. Zephrys is the late game Hail Mary for those decks. The fact that a non highlander deck can find room to fit zephrys shows just how good he is. If that’s not a damning testament to his power then I don’t know what is.

but it istn for those decks isnt even used as a win condition and only comes into play if the game drags longer than expected

Think of Zephyrs in non-highlander sort of like running a Quest: “draw cards until your deck contains no duplicates - Reward: The perfect card”.
Like a quest, it does nothing for you until it’s active.

Zephyrs however won’t eat your turn 1, can be run alongside regular quests, has a 3/2 body in a pinch and there’s a chance you won’t even draw him until midgame so he won’t clutter your opening hand.
Can be worth it if you draw a lot.

I imagined a card like it last year, thinking along the lines that Control players wouldn’t be happy until they had the tech card for everything.

What I couldn’t imagine is that the tech card for everything would actually lead to aggro and midrange Highlander decks. He’s viable in 6 classes, only Zilliax sees more play, it’s even surpassed SN1P.

Think zephyr is one of the greatest cards created so fare:) add lots of versatility to the different classes and yeah he is the only reason highlander is even slightly viable currently…
The only deck it’s problematic in imo is the Murloc Paladin decks that can draw all of their deck so fast that they don’t care about the restriction…

and it does. And i definitely can beat tic tac toe against a blind guy. The condition is i need to draw most of my deck and duplicate them hence having 2 Zeph and 2 floop that can turn into Zeph. Considering the win condition is mainly Nomi and Zephyrs there is little pressure on him and i am on the defensive most game so my health isn’t at the highest. Fatigue damage kicks in and Zephyrs is useless offensively if you dont have a board. Best? Tririon, not the hardest to deal with. Also i need to deal with his board which make a twisting nether important. Next turn he fill it back up. If i Nomi, i will just die from the direct board damage. I have to use Zephyrs for defense again and eventually you run out of Zephyrs and fatigue is still slowly killing you. This shows just how much Zephyrs can swing the game. Is it good? Yes is it game breaking? No.

Not gonna lie i hate Zephyrs. Against my deck it litteraly reads : win the game , draw a card.
