Yo, Blizz. About those new hearthstone standard bundle

I don’t know how to break it to you Blizz but those Golden Standard Bundles, and Mega golden standard bundles are too overpriced. I normally buy all the offers, but after seeing the price I passed on it. First time ever.
The decks look a bit overpriced too, I don’t know if anyone else feels the same but it just doesn’t seem worth it. Then again I am not interested in enough in a pre made deck so perhaps it is worth the value to people who are into it. It just looks steep.
Look, blizz, I am rubbing my forehead right now because you are kind of proving the bad reputation you have been getting lately. I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and opinions. If anyone else has thoughts and opinions as well on whether it feels like the value is there for the price please express it below. Blizzard always appreciate feedback, but everyone please stay constructive on the topic.

The Battle-Ready decks are extremely good deal for the price. Especially for the new players.

Alternatively you could spent 5, even 10 times more cash on packs and chances to get even one complete deck are slim.

So, I think BR are really not only good value but also a good way for new players to get competitive with minimum cash investment.

But when it comes to the Golden Bundle… then no. I personally would never buy those.

From a strict dust perspective, the packs are actually of similar value as the previous Standard bundle. The previous bundle was $5 for five packs and a legendary card. At minimum, that means you’re paying $5 for 600 dust (40 dust per pack = 200 dust, plus 400 dust from the legendary card). The smaller golden bundle costs $25 and nets you 3100 dust (300 dust per pack = 1500 dust, plus 1600 dust from the legendary card). In the regular Standard bundle, you got 120 dust per dollar spent, and in the golden one you get 124 dust per dollar spent.

Now, you might argue that dust cost is not the right metric to look at it. And you might be right! But I use dust because it’s the simplest way of comparing the two offers. It doesn’t make sense to compare it on number of cards given, because golden cards are generally considered to be worth more. But how much more (of if at all) is generally highly subjective, so IMO it’s better to remove that subjectivity, and dust value is the best way to do that.

But yeah, if you’re trying to expand your collection, the golden bundles are probably not a good idea. But that’s nothing new. Golden bundles have always been more about getting either dust or golden cards for collectors, than to get the most cards you can.

(Note: I’ve seen some reports that the pricing of the bundles is off in other markets, so I can’t comment on that. I focus on US prices because that’s what I can most easily see)

I just posted about this on reddit 30 minutes ago and came here to post but did a search first.

Anyways, I started playing Hearthstone 2 1/2 months ago. I have purchased every single bundle since I started playing. However, this price is just adsurd!!! I am also HARD passing on this. It’s a bit ridiculous too because they just had a scandal about price gouging in WoW, charging $35 for cloning and lowered it to $15 yesterday, after all the media and player outrage

I also did the math (just like MadMax) and it comes out to 1900 dust for the packs (if you’re lucky and 1 epic within the 5 packs) + 1600 for the Legendary; which can screw you, if you end up getting a Legendary that you actually wanted it as now you can’t dust it till you find non-gold version (good luck with that). All in all (most people probably won’t get the epic) so it’s $25 for 3100 dust.

It’s a TERRBILE deal… especially since they are still selling the Standard (non-gold) Bundle for $5!! Which is actually a good deal in my opinion. I am guessing it sold well and they decided to test the market with the gold version. It should have been priced at $15; that would have been still expensive but much more resonable (they would have sold more too I am sure)./

How? If you get a golden legendary you want, you don’t need to dust it. If you get a golden legendary you don’t want, you dust it for 1600 and get a non-golden Legendary you want. Either way you end up with a legendary card you want.

You’re right, now that I think about it some more, it makes to sense what I said. For some reason I was confused, probably just upset about the price lol (wish it was a little lower). I am itching to buy a new Bundle or the mini-set as I am working towards completiting my Warrior deck (it’s so expensive dust wise); already bought the battle-ready deck but for a different class (wish I could buy more then 1, it’s a great value).

I actually just got SUPER lucky and got my very first Golden Legendary from the Barrens pack after the Arena match. I lost 1-3 so it probably took pity on me lol It’s so exciting finding one in a regular packs as 1600 dust from 1 pack insane (I did get 2 legendary and 2 epic from one back a few weeks ago too though).

Anyways, I really hope they lower the price on these golden bundles just a bit. I really don’t think it will sell very well compared to the non-gold version for $5 (which is a fantastic deal in my opinion).

I hear ya. Personally, I’m giving this bundle a pass (as I do most golden bundles) because I’m not short on dust or cards. But I’m definitely itching for the miniset to come out already.

But they are golden!!! And yes, they are Overpriced, but they are GOLDEN!

Speaking of Golden cards, I’m still hoping they will eventually reconsider excluding the class borders. Not only would it make perceiving the class much easier, many people believe such Golden cards would look less gaudy and more elegant, myself included.

And on the note of redesigning cards, the Diamond design is underwhelming, and frankly atrocious in the way it was implemented. I don’t mean to disparage those who like it or the hard work of the artists who blueprinted it, but it truly does seem like a beta test that was not rejected like it should have been.

You know I switched over to Hearthstone from Gwent about 2 1/2 months ago. I put about 500 hours into Gwent and let me tell you their version of the Golden cards is called Premium but the animation is like 5x better then the quality of the new Diamond cards.

I was hoping it would be out already but there is still no ETA. I am guessing it will most likely be released sometime early/mid June. It sucks because I have actually been trying to avoid acquiring the Barrens expension packs. I really wish they would at least announce what it will contain, so that we know what is safe to craft now.

I agree, I wish they would take a look at Gwents premiem cards. It’s a different game engine obvioisly but their version of premiem is much much better then even the new Diamond (which does look kinda cool on the Blademaster).

Mini-Set will come out first week of June by the way. So it’s not far off.

Yeah, the new diamond cards are meh.

So after all that talk, I ended up buying the $50 Bundle LOL I got lucky and had some unexpected funds come my way and what better way to spend the money than supporting a poor and starving company like Blizzard…

In all seriously I wasn’t going to get it but for some reason I decided to look up the opening of the Golden Bundles on YouTube. I could not find any videos (at the time) but I watched a bunch of old once. And it became clear that despite what everyone says (including Blizzard themselves), that there is no guaranteed Legendary or pity timer for Golden packs, is simply NOT true. I am 99% convinced that the timer is there or the chances of Legendary drop are INSANELY increased. Out of 9 other pack openning videos that I watched EVERY SINGLE ONE got at least 1 (most times 2) Legendaries in their first 10 packs. This is NOT always true for the 5-6 packs as those get 1 Legendary about 1/2 the time, therefore I do think there is a pity timer of some sorts.

Anyways, I uploaded a video if anyone wants to see, link below. I ended up getting 4 Legendary (2 from packs), 2 Epic, 15 Rare and 31 Common for a grand total of 10,250 dust. I am now set till the next expansion

PS Reason why the video starts in Battle.net and from pack 9 is because I wasn’t going to record one but decided at the last minute AFTER I had already opened the first pack but didn’t check nor flip the cards over yet. This is when Hearthstone decided to crash as soon as I hit the record button LOL but it was just 4 commons and a 2 rare pack anyways.

I have also purchased all of the bundles in the past, but this time, the price is really absurd. in all fairness, i would pay if they are $9.99 and $19.99

Couldn’t it be because people only upload videos of remarkable openings and skip the meh ones?

They stick out like a sore thumb. They should be more subtle.

Well I think they are meant to stick out, however, I really do think they could have done a better job in how they stick out. I mean it’s not like it’s 1980.

They should have just made it a diamond version of a gold card. Swap out the gold parts, with diamonds. And the animations, adding a slight 3D effect. But still inside the image space. Subtle and looking like it belongs in the game.
