remember when one time everyone started calling blizzard generous for making events that give lots of gold/packs or how they started making the solo adventure alongside expansions free? Well the last fire festival was worse than the last 2, those adventures that we were praising blizzard for are payed again and they’re trying to sell you more and more limited time bundles.
I know that almost everyone will probably call me retarded and say what blizzard is doing is okay and continue paying over 100 dollars every 1/3rd of the year, but I just want to know if there are actually people who understand that by video game standards blizzard is overpricing everything is hearthstone.

Better let it be, too many fanboys around…
They will legitimitize every single $$ spent for their game, even if they pay more than for their mobile phone contract^^.
They’re so strong fans, that they don’t even notice the pure mass of new (and strong!) legendaries, which is a clear p2w indicator, no need to argue, as over the last 5-6 years there have never been so many useful legendaries.
It is not worth my/our time to discuss with addicts (it’s like gambling!!), that clearly outnumber “non-paying” customers.
I’ve been with HS since the beginning. (no-native speaker, pls excuse me)

No one would complain if there wouldn’t be anything to complain for. Hearthstone forces you to continuously play hearthstone to be able to have a decent set every expansion, or pay absurd amounts for a pre purchase.
And to those who say “I am free to play and I buy 50 packs each expansion”, there are many players who play a few games a week or just do there dailies. I’ve never opened more than 30 packs in any expansions launch and now it’s even worse since you also have to spend a crap tone of gold for the solo adventures.
Side note: I didn’t mind solo adventures being payed at first (nax, black rock…) because they launched instead of expansions

It’s not a charity. They’re not going to use their time and resources so you can have something for free.
It’s lucky they even give you gold as an option to pay for content.
They’re a business at the end of the day. I don’t understand why FTP players think they’re owed something. They’re not owed anything.
It’s like expecting a store to give you free groceries. They’re a business and they too need money to survive. What they CAN do though is offer sales to make it easier for consumers and keep consumer retention without losing money.
Blizzard offer sales on bundles. If you compared those to the packs you buy in the online store naturally, the price per pack in the bundle is cheaper and usually you get a legendary or something as well.
Some console games offer free DLC and that’s only because you’re required to pay for the full game first.
FTP players can get a pack every second day (quests) and any freebies along the way with events and promotions. I started saving late for SoU but I had enough gold for 30 packs (like you mentioned). Imagine if I started saving after Rise of Shadows came out. You can easily times that by 2-3 for every expansion if you stay playing the game daily.
More than enough to put some gold into the Solo Adventure as well.
People complain about anything. I once complained about a boss emote and still maintain it was a poor choice for a player to read while feeling tilt after a loss.
All card games are like this every time an expansion is released. It’s not exclusive to Hearthstone.

isnt a must have one so dont worry you dont need to get it unless you enjoy the mode
Oh you sweet summer child, is this your first time on the internet? People complain about everything all the time regardless of validity
Ive seen people complain about Warframe being pay to win when literally everything is farmable for free and the premium currency is laughably easy to get for free by farming.

Or (and here’s a crazy thought) you could play something else. Plenty of other CCGs out there, some of which are both strategically deeper and (from what I’ve heard) more generous to their F2P users. Have you considered MTG:A?

you are missing my point- I am not saying blizzard should give everything for free, what I’m saying is that everything is overpriced. You pay 50 euros for a expansion pre purchase, which is like a triple A game, and what do you get from those packs? Like 3-4 legendaries and ofc not even close to all epics. I have sayd before in another post that if pre purchasing would give you the entire set, I wouldn’t care about it that much but I guess you are all as blinded as the EA football lovers

Maybe this is just because I play paper card games, but I find hearthstone quite cheap for a card game. I preordered Uldum and ended up with 3 meta decks considering what I already had and dusting some stuff I never used.
Compare this to, say, Yugioh where buying a box of a given set for $80 gets you exactly 2 Secret Rares (of 8 in the set), many of which need to be played at 3 in their respective decks, or to Magic where current Standard decks are around $600 and Hearthstone doesn’t really seem so bad anymore. All CCGs follow a model like this, but digital ones like HS, Shadowverse and Legends tend to be much cheaper than paper.

and again with comparing with other card games. In the end- hearthstone is a virtual card game and it should be judged by other virtual game standarts. Compared to other virtual games, hearthstone is charging waaaay higher than the average f2p game

If you’re going to be such a stickler for which types of games Hearthstone should be compared to, the correct answer isn’t “other virtual games” or “the average F2P game.” The correct comparison would be to other F2P digital card games (MTGA, Gwent, and so on).

Easy, don’t buy the adventures. If they don’t make enough maybe they’ll evaluate the offer.
These adventures have no multiplayer content gated and is basically packs plus $5 for a random legend. I didn’t but RoS and I won’t buy SoU either… No real interest is paying for the SP content.

I play, way too much, HS and MtG:A. Magic, after awhile, is only slightly cheaper than HS but offers a lot more cosmetic options for $ which, I think, is a good route. If you want to compare HS to games it’d be fair to compare it to other CCGs and, honestly, MtG:A and HS are head and shoulders above others in terms of data we can look at in terms of engagement.
Therefore, the market overall is willing to pay the current costs. I’m probably going to be leaving HS eventually (or going full Wild) as keeping up in both is a bit too pricey I think. I cheated this year as I sold some old Magic cards to fund MtG:A lol
It’s Magic cards all the way down!
Yeah, finished with the garden. The constant digging and planting plays havoc with my knees.
Well yes because we’re not going compare it to a driving game are we? Lol.
Buying every new ‘Solo Adventure’ going to cost me $75.00 a year. Hearthstone releases three Solo Adventures every year now!

Adventures are more expensive than buying card packs so I’d stick to that. When in the past adventures give you guaranteed two of each unique cards only available in adventures like Naxx, I spend real $$ on it.
I guess it’s what you are after. I’m after cards only, so will pay for those in the most cost efficient way possible.
I paid $25 for Slay the Spire and loved it. Once of my best purchases this past year.
The HS adventures aren’t exactly comparable, but at say about $10 (they said a cheaper version without promo items is coming) for a standalone single player experience it could be fine. That’s basically a movie ticket and if you like the format, you’ll get at least the two hours out of it.
I agree that hundreds of dollars for packs for an expansion is way too much, which is why I usually pay $0, or occasionally buy a bundle.
Blame greedy activision shiet
