Particularly in Wild, Warlock is quickly becoming unbeatable, with cards like Felstring Harp and Void Virtuoso being abused alongside fatigue cards that do no harm at all to the class.
The new cards are only going to make things worse.
If team 5 is trying to prove to everyone how much they favor Warlock over other classes then great job, I guess.
Warlock basically got a whole expansion set with this mini-set. All 3 cards great. A class that has had 3 different decks see play this expansion needed even more support apparently.
Their impartiality is showing again. No favoritism here!
I remember way better players than me explaining how warlock trades power for health and the risk of dying from burn decks, etc.
Not anymore.
Also, back in my day discarding was a power vs risk of discarding something you needed tradeoff.
Yeah. It’s disgusting playing against lock in wild now. They are pretty much invulnerable.
Just draw and heal, deal damage as a side effect for doing the first two.
Nobody should expect balance in Wild.
That’s a format for fun and surprises.
Its a format where only five classes can win any more thanks to years of bias and favortism for the aforementioned.
It’s not even that. It’s more that their synergies just are more enduring and last longer.
Something like Sif or skeletons can work in standard and be strong, but it’s not going to compete with rogue’s 10 years of pirate cards.
Ditto with Lock’s laundry list of powerful self damage nonsense.
It’s not a favoritism issue, it’s just that they have coincidentally gotten more cross synergy over the years because the devs aren’t even remotely trying to account for that when making new sets.
That’s why no one actually cares about wild balance beyond decks that make it borderline unplayable.
BS!
Why?
Because some scummy reprints of old cards whilst removing tech and tools needed to not be humiliated by garbo design in stanturd is just soooo cool right?
Standurrr is weak, basic and just a sad carrot on a stick mockery of the original game.
“NAh we dont balance wild in any really meaningful way because we can resell it to you haha”
“we knows theres thousands of wow characters but here have a 12 iteration of Dr Boom…”
“Dont you guys like booms?”
The entire point of Wild is to be exactly what wild is… The most broken interactions possible with your entire collection available.
It was never advertised as a balanced format. By nature it can’t be. If you think the balance of standard is bad because they fail to account for interactions, imagine 5x the card pool.
Wild isn’t ever going to be balanced. Don’t expect it beyond an occasional breaking of a deck that’s doing something extra stupid.
This is why they also don’t do wild tournaments.
Wrong they said it constrained design space for the game.
“We cant reprint silences if they have silences already so we’re taking them away”
Also not true.
They said they would balance Wild and keep it from being ruined.
Many times.
Because they are milking people and dont want to make new stuff when its so much easier to reprint cheaper and more powerful versions.
But you need them because they removed them…
So you’re on a treadmill conjured up by some vampiric assembly of wendigo.
They dont do Wild tournaments because everyone would see how much better it is.
By far the better format.
But that takes work and care and if you noticed they just delete modes that take work n care.
“NOW CHECK OUT THIS 80 dollar bundle”.
YOu HaVe tO bUy it Or u gEt BooMWARweo agaIN HaHaaa
It buys the bundle or it gets warrior again.
Yeah, that was specific to standard. It had nothing to do with wild.
Key word there: ruined.
That’s why they killed extra turn mage. The rest of wild is largely working as intended.
It really isn’t. Wild is a dead format compared to standard.
It’s just a highlight of 10 years of broken interactions.
I haven’t spent money on packs in years.
Suckering people into the treadmill format was a big win for them.
“You dont need to learn them old cards”
Until u resell them scummers.
Its funny you say that when they have gone out of their way to nerf every viable mage deck that existed there.
Just sayin’.
And no other decks are changed at all, so warlock is disgusting there now, and mage is unplayable, solely because of team 5, but sure, it’s all just a series of unfortunate events…
Claiming that Warlock is what it is because Wild is Wild, is a little silly, given their intentional (and crippling,) nerfs to other classes in wild.
I mean, they killed the one that didn’t let your opponent play the game.
They have also killed druid decks that are over the top there.
If they act on wild, it’s usually just to kill a deck that’s a major sentiment issue. It’s not to make the format balanced.
Well, they killed Secret mage and it wasn’t exactly a meta tyrant.
They gave no reasoning at all for it.
Most of my discord friends asked why on Reddit, and got ignored by Team5.
But on message, the new cards will make Lock even more unbelievably broken than it already is.
I don’t even remember what they did to secret mage in wild. I pay basically zero attention to the mode.
I know. But when some players have nothing to play at all, in either format, while Warlock (and others) get to be incredibly broken, it really
makes those players feel like they are hated.
2 cards that remove weapon durability, 5 cards that destroy the weapon, 1 card that steals the weapon, all neutral cards. So potentially 15 cards you could run in your deck for any class (+2 if you playin Rogue) to stomp the opponent’s weapon but of course sticking that many in a deck would be silly lol. Then of course Runed Mithril Rod will make that OTK run a lot more smoothly. Either way, it’s good to run some weapon removal and possibly armor removal (not so much for Warlock for armor but just as a general rule).
Virtuoso is easy enough to kill, granted any Warlock worth his or her salt will save at least 1 Virtuoso for the very last second when going for the OTK so a moot point from me on that one.
But for the Warlock will have to have a bunch of good luck with draws unless the opponent’s deck is terribly slow in which case i’d suggest running faster paced decks. Sometimes it’s fun to have nice long drawn out battles of course, but enough people like them fast decks so just gotta grin n bear it if you wanna run a slow deck. Moral of the story: every possible deck to ever exist has a counter there are no exceptions.
TLDR: Run weapon removal + don’t use slow decks if worried about running into Fatigue Warlock.
Also entertaining to see people still angry at Warlock over nothing burgers.
