Why was this a tie?

I was playing against a Druid who played Linecracker/ bees/ Earthern scales/ Jade. I was playing Togwaggle/ Southief. I stole his deck after killing Linecracker so he had an empty board and 1200ish armor against my full board and his jades building up.

He made me suffer through the 1200 armor full rope every turn dealing only 28 damage per turn. he couldn’t play a jade cause his started at 1/1 and mine were 30/30.

I got him down to 300ish armor and the game ended in a tie even though I CLEARLY had the win coming. Why was this a tie?

Matches have a certain turn limit. After the turn limit is reached, both heroes explode and the match ends in a tie. This mechanic prevents matches to go infinite.

If I researched correctly: After 89 turns are played, the match ends in a tie. (First player has 45 complete turns while the second player has 44 complete turns.)
