Seriously have no idea why the coin still counts as a spell. It shouldn’t count as a spell, combo, spell burst, or anything that triggers an effect for something. All it should do is give the person 1 extra mana that turn. Now if it’s a coin gained by a minion or something that’s different, but the one you start the game with shouldn’t be able to give multiple benefits. It’s so frustrating especially in arena somebody pop a minions spell burst because of the freaking coin.
Because it’s a magical coin.
Of course it makes complete sense now lol.
I understand the frustration. How many times has Flamewaker cleared my minions because of the coin combined with another spell
Because the game only knew cards that were either Spell /(choice), minion/choice or weapon. Later Hero was added.
Also I mean Hearthstone’s balance approach is more like let everyone be randomly op. Therefore why add all the extra work just to weaken combos for that one card.
To make Mage and Paladin players rage as their counterspell and Oh my Yogg gets countered.
I wasted a Nature Studies proc on the coin earlier today - never again.
Dumb of me too because I clearly remember mages using it to activate Mana Wyrm / Flamewalker - just completely blanked on it.
I wish the mana cost would at least change to a green 0 to remind my dumbass it’s a spell
Agree. It shouldnt be a card either. It should be part of the UI
I needed this (coin) card for today’s quest, cast 25 spells.
Coins are too heavy to hold in your hands, let alone 10 cards. HS should have a tip jar to hold your coins
The Hearthstone designers are evil. Just look at all the alternate coins available now. One coin was obviously made by the owner of Mr. Bigglesworth, Kel’thuzad. One coin seems to be based on C’thun. Another coin seems to be the Kazakus coin.
An alternate theory is that special coins are a way for magic-users to keep a little extra mana with them, like with rings and amulets.
They need make a random (coin) card now.
I, too, believe the game would probably be healthier if The Coin were not a spell. I believe this because I’ve been beating people over the head with it as a free spell for years, and even occasionally getting kills with The Coin as the kill card.
The Coin isn’t just one extra mana anymore. It’s mana cheating, a free spell, a card that didn’t start in your deck, and sometimes even several points of damage all in one potent little package that one player gets for free because they “lost” a coin flip and are going second.
Just an idea: What if “Coin” was a new base-level type of card instead of a spell, and things like Counterfeit Coin were also Coins, and other kinds of new Coins could be printed going forwards with various interesting mana effects?
I think that would be far healthier than the current free-spell status of the basic Coin.
It should. How else do you disrupt Oh My Yogg or Counterspell? I think coin as a spell is the least of the issues in this game.
Why should whoever is on the play not be able to do that as well, though?
i never thought of it but you are right Oady it shouldent act like an activator as well
only a catch up mana for starting second.
damn i think my priest would be even worse of if they made it like that.
The problem is that it’s gotten too powerful, and only one player gets it.
I just think it would be healthier as its own card type. I really do.
Wasn’t this question put to rest sometime back here in the forums?
