Why does diminishing returns not exist?

Something I’ve noticed since playing Hearthstone is that there are no diminishing returns on some moves that can be repeatedly played. For example when players repeatedly make a copy of a card, these cards can become increasingly more powerful, rather than becoming weaker, or stay the same. If diminishing returns existed, this would not happen. I feel this would stop some of the ridiculous OP cards and play that exist within standard.

Thoughts?

Because Azeroth is a magical realm.
