Why do players create secondary accounts?

Why is it that usually older (in terms of time with game and not age) players often create second accounts to start over?

Having to build your collection over again just seems like a lot of work for pretty much no benefit. I do know that sometimes people create second accounts to benefit the first one, but I don’t really get why starting over is fun.

Hearthstone is a game that rely’s upon collections of cards that are made much faster when using payment, so why do people want to make complete F2P accounts? Just seems awfully tedious for duplicating an accounts collection.

I’ve found it entertaining in other games to start over as another character (similar to how if you only play a certain class in hearthstone, you switch and play another) but not make a secondary account to which it has nothing, only plain basic game.

Can anyone fill me in as to why this is done?

If I were to it would mainly be out of curiosity to experience how the current new player experience is.

Other than that, the difficulty of resource management and having unpackings influence what you play. I sometimes feel less motivated to play if most of the set is collected rather than having a few decks with a clear goal in mind.

Of course there’s the benefits as you mentioned, for completion sake a list why I’ve created alts in the past:

  • accounts to share daily quests with
  • play with cards you wouldn’t maybe craft on your main account
  • have an account you could let friends play on
  • have your “F2P” on the same server so that you’re able to play against friends rather than have it be on the same account but a different server
  • be able to split battlegrounds and constructed (not having to buy a battlegrounds pass could be extra packs
  • have a dedicated arena account etc, probably some reasons missed.

Edit i dont have two accounts i just play on different servers wanted to be clear.

For me i created an usa account to talk to friends from the usa because i noticed that the majority of people i interact with on forums are from the usa and i would to chat and play games vs them thats the reason for me to interact with friends from the usa.
I will make a Asia account possibly one day for the sole purpose of trying to get 11 stars from apprentice ranks but idk if il even do that lol.

I use to have multiple accts on an online fps I used to play years ago. I was a pro melee player and there was a melee only mode that was ton of fun but everybody knew me so playing incognito was fun as ingame chat can get pretty messy. HS just one acct. Switch to EU server fm time to time when I’m bore of the main so there’s never a need to fresh start new alt when you can play with your acct from scratch just fm diff server. Play abt 3 times on Asia Server but it was to laggy(probably my i-net)

I see 0 beneifts in playing HS on multiple accounts (unless you are a pro and you need to rank up in multiple regions).

The only usefulness I see in having more than 1 account is if you play multiple modes, like mercenaries, BG, duels, HS; so you don’t have to split your gold between them

i rank pretty quick so i just get to diamond 5 do dailies I usualy play most of the time on main server , it is funny but my mmr on my usa account is better then on eu because when i started hearthstone i was not that good i feel ah i remember my first elemental mage so fondly very weird deck but fun.

we can play on 3 regions with 1 account

how many of those who make alts actually played on their main 3 regions ?

i play on another one just to play arena without worrying about my gold ( and BG perks )

Because people skilled at the game know its not pay to win. I did it with my friend to show him their are always budget decks that can hit legendary every single season… and im right. Literally do it all the time now.
