Here’s a simple question why control is dead and will stay dead: Why would I play control when there’s so much RNG in the game that the longer a game goes the more likely my control deck gets rngd into a loss? On the opposite side I can play agro and have rng more likely give me a win . Juggernaut gives 3 random occurances a turn to find the win. If you don’t like agro u can play otk decks bc u just need your cards and with the exception of mutanus and tikatus there’s no solid way to attempt to interrupt it besides killing them in time. Look at demon hunters burst with the new Kurtrus hero it kills control decks because the control deck played a minion to get the board, wow you played a minion what an idiot but if you don’t play minions they’ll just hit you enough to kill you. There’s zero reason to play control. Fix it Blizzard.
RNG?
Control is dead because there are decks that can draw consistently everything they need to win (OTK) before turn 10.
Pirate warrior doesn’t need to draw the whole deck, it just needs 7 pirates and it’s GG.
Quest lock autowins against any control, without any RNG involved.
RNG can only make control stronger, not weaker; many control decks can win thanks to discover and generation (see control priest: it was a clown fest)
This alone demonstrated you understand nothing about the game. As mentioned above, RNG unreliably decks actually benefit control. It struggles against reliable fast wincons.
Control warrior, or sort of control warrior, can actually compete against pirate warrior in standard. I put in “draw a pirate,” “draw a weapon,” the pirate with “frenzy: draw a card,” and the weapon that can kill and draw a card for some draw power in a deck. Then there’s just enough armor for boosted Galvangar and the frost board clear to cost less than 10, or preferably 0. The high end is Galvangar, Rokara hero, Grom Hellscream, and two Troublemakers.
Its true that playing minions can only give your opponent an advantage, but you have got to build your deck around this. As mage you can have no minions and play a good control. Mage has a 2 cost card that shuffles an card into your deck, so you wont suffer fatigue, but you have to save this card for tickatus etc.
As you play minions they have to be worth it and play a good control. If someone doesn’t play minions but only destroy yours, which is no longer good for warrior, but still the mage. You have got to freeze the enemy kurtrus, so play freezing cards, get into armor or healing.
Control is not doing well right now. It’s not RNG that’s the problem, it’s the exact opposite - consistency and inevitability. Decks that can consistently and quickly carry out a game plan that inevitably lead to their victory are hard for control decks to deal with. Excessive card draw, rampant mana cheating, ridiculously strong win conditions, and super fast and consistent combos are all problems. RNG is not.
It’s not quite as bad as last set though. I made it to legend this month playing nothing but control priest. There’s currently some small sliver of room for value decks to breathe. A little.
Your response proves that you have the mind of a simpleton, are you looking for rng to keep you alive another turn or rng to win the game bc staying alive another turn just gives your opponent another chance to rng for the win, but if your basic brain wants to immediately accuse someone of not understanding the game while sounding like a complete ignoramus and giving no real examples please keep sounding like the idiot you are at least I get a laugh.
Using unnecessarily big words does not make you understand hearthstone deckbuilding any more then anyone else.
As someone who has been trying to force a control deck into working in this meta for awhile you do want rng, aggro and otk decks don't, why would you rng for the potential for lategame stuff when you can simply draw your early game minions or spells that are specifically put in the deck to kill the opponent quickly, same is especially true in an otk deck. RNG in control is fine though because you are simply accumulating tools to apply pressure win the game or flip a board to your favor, more options is what control wants, not aggro or otk.
Tickatus sucks, mutanus is fair.
control will be back this is the time of year where there is way to many cards/expansions.
