Blizzard increasingly uses official bots to fill in gaps due to Hearthstone’s population decline. In some less popular game modes you are just playing against bots all the time.
So if you’re playing against bots anyway, why can’t you just play the game offline.
Find another game to play offline would be easier and time saving.
Actually, it would be better if they merge all 3 servers.
Age of Wonders 4 is out in 2 days. And it’s releasing on GoG, so it should be fully offline without DRM.

I’d assume for anti-piracy reasons or something like that, I’m just spit balling here.
Because you’re not supposed to actually realize you’re playing against bots. The “game is rigged” conspiracy theorists have it precisely backwards, Blizzard isn’t trying to frustrate you. They’re trying to convince morons that they’re smart; that’s how packs are sold. And it’s not new, the structure of Participation Trophy ranks (all ranks before Diamond 5) has the same design goal.
Edit: although now that I think about it, getting frustrated is probably a “come down” effect from when the thinking that you’re smarter than you actually are collides with reality too hard
‘Intellectual property’ or such, also preventing hacking, which could have an impact… There are single-player modes in thig game, by the way, mind you, and they’re online, too.
PS And now, to indulge in some off-topic graphomania…
Yeah, especially considering it’s documented (in 24.4 Patch Notes) openly.
Still plenty of FRUSTRATED big babies, though, who didn’t know anything, since reading is too boring, they don’t like it in general and it’s too difficult for them, they all need a personal dancing and lip-syncing video in TikTok because they are so special… However, they seem to believe in their OPINION and how it is very important to anyone… I’ve lost count to self-repetitions in this passage, though.
Which is more or less the essence of that conspiracy theory, duh!
The assumption that the realisation in question ever happens seems too naive to me.
Because the AI of the bots is really difficult and if they can at least make you entertain the idea that you are playing people you wont just give it up.
Most likely reason: Your Data they collect every time you log in again. You are updating the profile of the data they collect from you and that profile of their playerbase is only valuable so long as it is up to date. The locations, ages, genders, interests, browsing and spending habits, searches, etc put you into a lot of different buckets of categories that advertisers will match their clients to potential customers that are likely to be a target of their products.
This alone is reason enough to never allow the game to have an offline option.
Yeah and you’re supposed to read the entire End User License Agreement before you click “Accept” too.
They’re never reading that.
Colliding with reality doesn’t imply a realization. I guess it implies rationalization, but that’s different.
Yeah, yeah, I know or at least would guess as much, but don’t feel like repeating myself for the umpteenth time.
Alright, point taken, although the rest of the original passage seemed to imply it to me.
Because all the important stuff about the game happens on their servers. Rolls, draws, shuffles, etc.
