Whizbang the Wonderful

I just wanted to post my support of adding this card to the basic set. I will be very sad to see this card rotate out of standard.

Personally the card has been a huge factor in my continuous engagement with the game. I often skip an expansion or two and want to come back and play competitively against others on the ladder. He keeps me with a high end competitive deck despite collection size.

Just wanted to say two thumbs up!

They either need to add more decks to Zayle’s Deck Recipe list (all E.V.I.L. decks) or they make another one for League of Explorer’s decks.

Lastly, I can see them doing another next year.

Cards like Whizbang are so good for players that don’t buy packs or have a lot of dust or whatever. Like you say, they’re good enough for you to be competitive.

It’s why I picked this avatar

Thanks for sharing. How competitive do you think it could be? Last exp many were laughing at fizzbang, saying the decks were good only to get to rank 15 max.

You’re welcome.

It was always a project I wanted to try myself. I reckon you could get lower assuming you knew the current meta and how to beat certain deck types. The only problem with Whizbang is that your deck is random each time so it may give you a bad matchup.

I reckon with a bit of luck you can get around the 10-5 mark.

Used him in my FTP alternate account and here are my thoughts:

  1. Decks can be improved such as including psychopomp in the priest deck. So not the strongest.

  2. Fun - a lot of variety and 18 decks makes it less boring as you are not playing with the same decks.

  3. It contains a lot of legendaries that most people don’t have and therefore worth it since we need to just craft one legendary for this.

  4. You won’t easily get to rank 5 on this as it’s hard to master 18 decks and not all decks are good. The overall win rate is below 50%.

Despite this, I’ve had so much fun and spending more time on this than my main account that I’m thinking of crafting him for my main account.

Definitely support this moving to the basic set!

I’ve gotten down around level 10. Never truly pushed for legendary. I would assume the highly tuned decks are just that highly tuned and could beat most random although synergiestic decks. Whiz bang gets a fair number of wins because you’re sometimes playing classes that people don’t even plan for or look into what your class cards can even do.

In my experience playing Whizbang in Casual, the deck seems to do a lot better immediately after a new expansion comes out and decks aren’t well refined yet. As time goes on and more people refine their decks, Whizbang’s effectiveness drops.

Mind you, it could also just be that this round of decks (which has a lot of Quest decks) was better than average… I’ll see how the next expansion compares.
