Hi, I’ve been playing HS since beta and recently came back only there is a weird issue where I don’t see the rank of my opponent. I also don’t see anything about it in the options. Is this a bug? Or, what happened? Sincerely confused! Thanks
Oh yeah and to clarify I can see my own rank during a match, but not the opponents, if I remember properly you used to/should be able to see opponents rank?
Ever since the new ranks were introduced (or maybe a little after that), the game does not show you the rank of your opponent until you hit legend.
Hmm okay, that’s weird…any idea why? I figured it was a bug or something, lol.
I’m not sure, but I think I read somewhere they changed it because the new matchmaking system holds hidden MMR with a higher priority than the current rank. So there is a possibility that your opponent is not close to you in rank. So, it may raise issues like “Oh, my opponent is gold 3 while I am silver 8. RIGGED!”
Hmm okay, weird…it was never perfect before, I don’t think anyone would expect it to be perfect now. Just weird you can’t see opponents rank, seems like a feature that ought to be standard to the game experience, but I guess I’m too old school outdated or something. Anyway, thanks for clarifying!

This is a good question OP I wonder it myself and it would make matches more interesting if I knew.
I wonder if the competition to hearthstone games out there show your opponents rank? For example, maybe new magic card games or that new witcher card game show it.
Not much, believe me. Opponent rank is predictable changed while you have star bonus and is fixed when you run out of it.
Opponent’s rank is still delivered to client from server it just isn’t shown by default. Some mods will show it to you (including DHT, perhaps).
