I’ve been playing for about 3 years and 8 months now and I kinda always considered myself a FTP player because I’ve only bought the cheap little 10$ and 15$ bundles.
But lately I’ve realized how much money I’ve put in the game over the years and it’s about $160. So now that I’ve come to realize im no longer a FTP player, I’d like to know when you think that I was no longer one. Was it the first dollar I put in the game? or was it after $50? or $100?
I ask because even though I’ve spent about $160 on the game it still feels like I am FTP because over the course of almost 4 years, $160 is not that much in terms of content spread across 10 expansions.
If you spend money you’re not F2P. That’s how I look at it.
I will say I also think it’s fine to hear someone say they’re F2P after spending money in the past. Meaning they used to, but no longer feel its worth it anymore or whatever reason.
So they say they’re F2P an I just see it as someone who is not spending money atm. Might stay that way or change but the title is fine.
Cause, first and most important rule of being a f2p player, constantly remind others that you’re a f2p player. You lose that priviledge once you’re not.
(rule not set by me. Legend Stuff, a HS youtube channel who makes joke vids said it)
As for the question, I too just set it by paying and not paying. If the player only bought the Welcome Bundle, I could give it a pass, but $160, not really.
I think this is a little too strict of a definition. As the goblins say, “time is money.” Both time and money amount to an investment, no matter how you look at it.
I used to play trial account twinks in WoW, back in Cata, and this was a conversation that constantly came up… “f2p pride” was a SERIOUS issue! lol
I think we should set the bar at a person who has never spent money, gold or dust on cards. They are playing with the basic cards and packs Bliz has given for free. They are truly F2P.
If I add up everything I’ve spent since I started in TGT, I’m easily over 2 grand. Probably more. I’d consider you completely FTP and I commend you for your ability to resist dumping money into this game.
I have an alt account that’s FTP and I couldn’t stand the monotony of playing the same deck over and over so I just play whizbang and I’m yet to get past rank 18.
Jokes on you. I actually have one account exactly that (actually it’s this account I’m using right now). I’m the only f2p player in the world! (most likely). It performed quite well also, as it got FLJ as a free DK when it was already more mage oriented account. Didn’t really start meddling on this account though after the rotation, not yet.
