What dictates a FTP player?

You have never been a f2p players, spending single cent denies you that prestige status forever. I guess the only way to fix it is starting a new account.

There’s no way for you to know any of those things.

Breaking news: paying players come up with counter-arguments, as scientists discover some of them apparently have a brain

(dont worry guys I’m over the never-spent-anything-on-packs crusade phase )

I’ve spent 40-60$$on the game since I started. I consider that to he a fair price for a game. People who claim they spent hundreds on this game seem a tad excessive.

post your source then

there must be a reason for you to post " get rekt " there must be something you know besides the fact we both know he didnt lose his green text because of a moderation but because of the forum change as announced

we ve known since these forums were announced months ago posters like him would lose the green text

By definition, no, you’re not a FTP player. You are, however, what I would refer to as a “low-spender.”

That’s a load of BS. Most people can’t afford to dump $100+ every expansion to buy a full collection.

I have Free To Play account and a Pay to Win account.

I do FTP because I like the challenge of starting from scratch… I like the progression from nothing into something. I like the resource management… when every card in your collection has value and cards you never would play suddenly become a staple.

Not everyone who chooses to not buy packs becomes “a F2P player.”

That label is a choice, one that expresses a point of view.

My Alt - It has never used cash to buy a thing in this game. That is a F2P account but it doesn’t matter, no one cares about how you got your cards, they only want to beat you.

100 bucks won’t even scratch the threshold of a full collection.
IIRC(*) you’ll need more than 300 packs on average to collect most cards and then craft the rest from the dust of the triplicates+.
Keeping up with quests will net you 6000-8000 gold between expansions, expect 15+ promotional packs (older and upcoming expansion mixed, like last time) and add the (mostly) dust from 4 month of standard packs thru Tavern Brawl. Add HoF once a year and any +gold-+dust giveaway events by Team 5. If you can earn gold/dust in Arena , more power to you/less cash spent.
Deduct all that from the 300+ packs you need.

(*)There have been several articles on reddit about that topic, pester your web browser of choice about them

I enjoy poker but everyones so angry at me :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t see why the title matters so much.

If you want to be honest, then you spent money so not, you’re obviously not FREE to play.

But call yourself that I guess, who cares.

I’d say that strictly speaking, being a full-fledged ‘F2P Player’ is only really acheivable if you haven’t spent money on the game, with maybe something tiny like the Welcome Bundle being understandable.

HOWEVER

I also wouldn’t balk at someone who has spent money in the past saying something like “nah man, I’m F2P these days” if they currently don’t spend money because, well, they’re playing for free at this time.

More important than either of those though, is the fact that such a title really isn’t a big deal. It should neither be flaunted for moral superiority over others, nor should it be used derogatorily toward folks who - for any number of reasons - don’t spend cash on the game.

The main point is that the game can be played by a wide variety of people with varying levels of time and/or money invested into it, which is hella cool.

I have a main account where i spend a ton. On my other 2 I’ve bought a few bundles, and the odd extra pack here and there. But, I don’t spend much time grinding on them.
So, I don’t consider them f2p but I do think that they give me a good idea of the resources available to f2p players.

I consider myself F2P because I never gave money to Blizzard specifically to add to my collection but I have spent money to buy wild stuff for my friend, to go see the Warcraft movie and to buy the book and DVD, and to go to BlizzCon. I did get Medivh and several card packs as a result of spending on those other things but I didn’t spend for that purpose.

It matters because people that spend money do so to get more cards. That means stronger and more adaptable decks. That means a much higher probability of attaining higher ranks at a faster rate.

That is textbook pay to win.

I’ll say again what I’ve said several times. If you want to “support the devs” out of the kindness of your own heart, then mail them a check directly or stuff some money in an envelope anonymously.

Anything else is pay to win whether that’s your intent (it is) or not.

You cannot pretend that there is no difference between buying a rank 5 deck on day 1 and grinding there over the course of 6 months to 1 year with yetis and crocolisks as you piece together a meta deck.

People that say it doesn’t matter just don’t like having the Barry Bonds asteric next to their name that they deserve.

I play on the Asia server like this. The only cards I have are from promotions, free arena runs, tavern brawls, and the occasional pack reward from the daily quest. It’s fun and interesting to build decks to get the daily quest done. I’ve been doing this for quite a while and currently have 27,000 gold and 6400 dust.

But there’s no difference in the actual t1 deck - once you’ve got it.

Sure, spending money enables you to have more decks, and more decks faster. But that doesn’t help you win, does it? Surely the only thing you need to win is one good deck that you can climb the ladder with - which you can either buy with real money OR make yourself within literally days of playing if you mill enough cards and craft a cheap competative deck.

I’d never argue that paying doesn’t give you more deck variety. It must be great thinking ‘oh I feel like playing X deck today, I’ll just craft it it’ - but that’s not p2w. You can ‘win’ with a just pitiful investment in the game, as has been proven by many people climbing to legend with the most bare minimum cheap decks.

TLDR. Pay to have more decks, pay to have more variety, but pay to ‘win’ I disagree with.

Also im a f2p player, if that makes any difference.
