Welcome back gift, hearthstone losing players?

but there is where you going wrong those packs cost them nothing they lose nothing from it since those people are not playing they are allready not paying, giving free packs and getting people to play again and possibly spending money again is the goal

I returned to the game after 24 hrs, I didnt recieve anything! This is madness! This is unfair! I demand to speak to your manager!

By all means give away packs to returning players but is it too much to ask to show some love to those that have been around all this time???

Or at least stop reducing the rewards of old events like the Fire Festival???

So even though handing the packs away free is virtually free for them it will gain some players, lose some casual players that don’t have many cards and feel cheated. It’s much easier to retain players in the first place, for instance when LoR started to compete, hearth should have really really increased rewards by a lot (both f2p and p2p become more generous), perhaps sacrificing some short term revenue but would have resulted in long term revenue and people would be encouraging their friends to come play the game because they are overall satisfied with it.

feels like they love to piss off their regular players lol

I know I’m reviving a post that’s a few months old now but I just wanted to verify that this is real and they’re apparently still doing it. I just logged into the Battle.net client to open WoW and had a message popup that I received a gift and sure enough, it was the 75+75 packs from Blizzard. It’s probably been a couple months since I last logged into the game and it’s been YEARS since I played the game regularly.

I’ve logged in to see some news on D IV, and I got 80 packs. Haven’t played since march, I thought it was some kind of a joke  As tempting as it is, hell, I am not coming back. You won’t buy me, Blizzard. Enough is enough.

I’m only getting 10+10 packs. Still not playing yet. My 120 days without HS is almost up (4 days remaining).

Have not had any offer and i have not played standard for like 2 years if not more. Have been playing BG though and bought the pass.

Maybe i would play standard again and spend some money on it if blizzard lured me in with a nice gift. Wink wink.

I got 80 packs labeled Welcome Back Gift today. The last time I played hearthstone was about a year ago.

There is a good way to judge how popular a game is by using Twitch.

Go to all the games, rank them by most popular. Seeing where the game ranks is a first indication. If you do that you can see that Hearthstone ranks at position 20 of games on Twitch.

But this simple method is not good enough. You need to exclude the 4 most popular channels, because people watch these streamers not because of the game, but because of their persona. Then start looking at what is actually left, how many people with 1-40 viewers are actually playing the game.

If you make a custom rank and exclude the 4 most watched channels for all these games, Hearthstone is around position 36, which is quite low for an online game from a massive company like Blizzard.

So yes, Hearthstone is bleeding a lot of players imo.

idk, I would wager they are bleeding some players…

I only got 80. What a rip :joy:

why? lol and gta are interesting games
mw2…not so much but it’s new, it’d have been much better with zombies :frowning:
blizzard need to learn that p2w games don’t work, it only works for fifa because of the messi/cr7/neymar/mbappe etc… fanboys

I thought this was a very interesting method, how exactly do I do this type of search?

Not really surprised they are doing this again.

Big packs for some of the older players…

Where are they hoping to get the new players from though?

Their other games?

Also as a mobile game, Hearthstone does not cater to mobile players.

It’s not sitting in a single match for 20+ minutes just to lose it in the end, that’s for sure.

I think it reeks of desperation.

Yeah, it does reek of desperation.

As someone who wants the game to succeed - it’s unfortunate Blizzard is unable to recognize and address their own mistakes.

They would be better off to blanket nerf the game and start over.
It’s too busted to fix at this point.

Yeah.

Well, here’s few problems with that though.

  1. Giving everyone insane amounts of dust because the current dust system does not work and people just stack cards and dust on refunds

  2. Balance team philosophy change - the current balance of the game is “who can play broken card(s) first? Does my opponent have/draw a counter or do I win?”.

As evident by many decks in the current meta.

Changing the gameplay fundamentally is probably not something Blizzard is thinking about, considering recent cards such as the DK legendary
