I see on reddit a lot of people are being offered welcome back bundles with a 150 packs. Companies usually only give such big rewards when they are losing players, and a 150 packs is like a mega bundle wtf.
I saw this, too. I’m skeptical. I just have difficulty fathoming a company like Blizzard being anywhere near this generous. I’ve also seen comments from people that haven’t played in years logging in and not receiving these packs.
Well I was on the fence. Now, after a couple of weeks of the new expansion I’m certainly gonna bounce for a few months while I get over my fatigue of this game. There’s a whole damn world out there.
they could do it im pretty sure you thought they never were going to add duplicate protection right
but if they did
they would advertise it everywhere and put some very specific conditions to get it
like having played for over a year + and being inaactive for 1 or 2 years (to prevent people who created an account and never played (or use it for "play a friend ")from claiming it
i dont think they would give that many packs to every single account people stopped playing with
they HAVE to offer this package, because this game is bleeding players like they’ve been sliced open by wolverine. it’ll help for about 2 weeks, then all the returning players will realize how trash the game is now and will disappear again.
as incredible as it may seem, 75 + 75 packs are barely enough to keep up with the meta
For a real returning player, it’s a nice boost, but they would still need to wait 1 year to be on pair with a f2p that has all the previous expansions that are currently in standard
If this is true they wouldn’t be too much worse off than my collection purely from a standard viability, I may have averaged about 400 packs from the time I started collecting Barrens (the current oldest standard set), but I have bought 100 or so classic packs and 100 or so from wild sets, some players would have bought the cosmetics/battlegrounds/merc stuff. That said they would also get the starter deck, but they’d also be missing ranked rewards, so pretty even there.
So I think the news could only be fake, unless the aim was really to encourage people who are playing now to leave the game to return in so many months from now which is something I was already considering since I’ve long been burnt out from this game. If it’s not fake then they are probably looking to push hearthstone II or something and want so many people playing this one when they make the switch. I can only speculate on their intentions.
Also If it really really is a thing then people should open the sunken voyage packs first, otherwise they will receive about 15 less unique rares overall.
I always think in cases like this, where’s my reward for being a loyal customer? Here’s a great gift for someone that hasn’t played in years. And I get…?
Once you’ve broken away from a game you’re probably not missing it too much, actually lots of games offer really generously to get players to return. It’s now very obvious to me that they are sampling to know which amount of packs was the least amount they had to give to bring a player back, to then offer that on a grander scale. If I got an offer of 20 packs for instance, I wouldn’t even reinstall, 150 pretty much is the amount they’d have a player like me back for since we all know that you need to open a lot of packs to own a deck, if I quit like that it’s also probably because I’m enjoying a game more so I don’t think that’d draw me back in for long.
Hearthstone lite for mobile phone, now that’s an idea, imagine actually being able to fit the game on your phone again without all of the other stuff like battlegrounds and merc mode even if it’s not satisfying your needs for pc, lets assume you’re playing new world or fall guys and that’s far more entertaining for you right now.
I don’t think this would be a corporate move by Blizzard or Hearthstone. Why would they give 200 dollars ( or more) worth of packs? They lose even more money doing so. Is the game losing players? Sure, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be enough to pull this stunt without sacrificing a huge sum on a risky move like this. You know how many people have quit and to have a team make gift packs to pursue them back is basically hemorrhaging their own pockets. Also depending on how long they’ve been gone for wouldn’t even cover the catch up it would take to reach everyone’s current.
Well this as it turns out was just an experiment, so it may not be 150 if they decide to do it for real, and they may give something to previous customers.
