I have played Hearthstone for a long time. I have always enjoyed collecting the cards and different art styles. I loved years ago when the “bad luck protection” was implemented to make sure that when you purchased packs, you would receive cards you didn’t have before receiving duplicates. I was trying to fill out my collection for this last expansion, and lacked some signature cards so purchased the $100 bundle that had guaranteed signature cards. I received 3 duplicates of signature legendary cards when I am still lacking 2 signature legendary class cards for this expansion. I opened a ticket expecting this to be a bug. I was told by a GM that signature cards you buy don’t have bad luck protection. I had no idea that Blizzard would do something like that to cards that were pricey, and feel like I was completely ripped off. I used to be one of the people who would spend a lot of money every expansion to collect everything but after this I definitely will not be spending anymore money on Hearthstone. Was already frustrated about them being lazy about releasing new boards for expansions but feeling like I threw money out the window was definitely the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Which ones are you missing exactly?
Not all signature cards can be recieved from packs. Some can only be bought from the shop directly or can be recieved through the reward track.
Did they say they won’t refund + retract the account?
You kinda did, though. Like, I get it, nobody likes corpo greed, and buyers’ remorse is a thing and all, but real talk: it’s a recreational activity and you were chasing cosmetics. That’s arguably about as objectively meaningful as buying a concert ticket, a ham sandwich, or a pair of shoes.
Money means nothing unless it’s spent. Remember that.
Sorry mate, if you’re just learning that Blizzard capitalizes on suckers… well…
sucks to be you
The mistake you made was using physical money in a F2P game, which pretty much the only thing you can get with money in this game that you can’t by just grinding/farming for it is purely cosmetic. I’ve opened more packs than I care to count and got a small handful of legos, even less that I actually use, then forward to yesterday, i purchase a gold dark beyond pack and 1st card is a signature ceaseless expanse. Basically, grinding may take longer, but sometimes it pays off
I always check My Collection before purchasing any signature legendary cards to make sure I don’t duplicate. I lack Exarch Otaar and The Gravitational Displacer. I asked the GM if these were shop only and they said no, that signature legendary cards can be pulled from packs and that there are specific commons, rares, and epics that are shop and season track only which I knew.
Yes and no. When they first announced the game back in 2013/2014 they spilled the beans about the true nature of the game in terms of financials; it’s not truly a free game; it’s a MICROTRANSACTIONS game (I suppose they spilled the beans back then because the Shareholders were listening too).
That means it’s designed in a way to be OBNOXIOUS and LIMITED and generally incomplete if you don’t pay them; e.g. a beginner will never be able to create more than 1 or max 2 netdecks without playing for at least one full year daily; e.g. Battlegrounds are just pay 2 win even if you play for years etc.
I personally also F2P but I’m aware I’m handicapped, constructed needs at least 2 years and non-stop completion of quests; BGs is always a handicap; you can’t play Arena regularly without paying etc.
