Warlock Titan: Sargeras

I’d be totally okay with Sargeras costing 7 mana and having the infinite portal removed (with the portal lasting some x number of turns as a replacement). Of course you would never take that trade because you know how stupidly overpowered the infinite portal is.

Sargeras would be far more powerful with this option, even if the portal only lasted 3 turns

Absoluety not. You better give Sargeras charge along with other titan abilities if you think removing the portal is fair. The portal is all Sargeras has.

Those are some of the dumber suggestions I have seen.

So then what would the card do? lol
Suggest a redesign instead of just saying it needs to be redesigned (which you didn’t even directly state either)

I think the correct way to implement the idea of the portal going away if he’s dead is to make it last 2-3 turns after he dies or something (whatever is deemed balanced).

I cannot stress this enough, it isn’t. Looking specifically at the matchup data for Control Warlock (as Sargeras is the primary strategy of this deck) rather than Thaddius or Curse builds in which he is secondary, the only strategies that really struggle against the infinitely spawned imps are board-based aggro (you are supposed to have the game locked before your opponent stabilises and Sargeras is a stabiliser) and extremely grindy control strategies that have finite resources (basically only Blood DK because Control Priest will still run you out of all other resources and can ultimately just out-tempo a couple of 3/2s or 3/4 taunts each turn, or they’ll copy Sargeras with PC:S and out-value you while keeping the board state even). Control Warrior struggles some with Legion Invasion but the matchup is only a little better than 55/45 for the Warlock at higher MMR as the Warrior is able to one shot the Warlock with some armour gain plus a 1 mana Windfury weapon from Ignis and a Bladestorm to clear the taunts.

The only issue I think there is with Sargeras is when he is picked up early with Movement of Pride and is able to come down for 3 mana. This creates non-games as the infinite minion generation begins before aggressive decks have a chance to win or slower strategies are able to get online and reach a secure position. This is what needs to change.

I’m surprised this thread hasn’t exploded since Sargeras got buffed.

Limiting the portal to three turns after death sounds like a reasonable first adjustment to me. Also, I wonder what percentage of Sargeras Warlocks have reached the rank of legend by now…probably like 90%. A monkey could reach legend with that deck.

Listen mate, INFINITE PORTAL 0 MANA 2 3/4s and nothing can stop this. Take now into account how much mana 2 3/4 taunts would cost if they were normal summoned. I do not think this is fair by any means. I would suggest to cost 4 mana for the 4 3/4s if you have when your turn ends. If you don’t you won’t summon them. Or the portal should last for 3 or 4 rounds. Infinite portal is OP no matter what deck the opponent plays.

It should cost either mana to summon the two 3/4s in the end turn or cost HP, when sargeras die. Also some people suggested it will last 3 to 4 turns when sargeras dies, this is also a possible and logical way. Now when i see someone to play warlock i already know is a matter of time to lose no matter the deck. No matter if luck is on your side, you know when turn 9 comes you will eventually lose. No skill deck, no RNG just wait for time to pass reach 9 mana and then you autowin. This is not Hearthstone, this is not a card game…

You people don’t care about balance. You just want to see the card die.

Majority of games only one titan ability gets used. Believe it or not but two taunt imps each turn isn’t the end of the world especially when played on turn 9. I could see an argument for turn 6 sargeras but even then you’d be assuming high rolls happen more often than they do.

If one titan gets a stupid nerf then that will cause further issues down the line. Next thing you know your titan could be subject to a stupid nerf as well.

It has TWO costs. One is the 9 MANA TO SUMMON HIM, and two is pressing that ability instead of the other two abilities.

That opportunity cost on number two is huge btw. If you play sarg and make imps +2hp taunts, then you can’t clear your opponent’s board. If you clear, you don’t get the taunts. If you make some 6/6s, you get neither.

Unless cheated out, sarg has enough COST to use him.

Yes I want Sargeras to die.

Warlocks are literally unbeatable right now.

I run rainbow XL mage. odyn XL warrior. Dude paladin and hound hunter and none of these deck can even get close to win at 40% agaisnt a warlock.

I hope your deck dies too.

“Unbeatable” sure buddy…

unbeatable has in I cant even win 35% agaisnt warlocks yes.

the ONLY WAY is when those minus 30% chance happen and the lock actually has a bad draw lol

I’m assuming english isn’t your first langauge.

I’m playing a Sargeras deck and can’t seem to ever lock up wins. Even with symphony.

Besides his board clear ability and portal defense Sargeras doesn’t bring anything else to the table. Majority of games you only get one ability and then the titan is gone. Most control decks can handle a couple taunt minions per round. Without the taunt ability the portal and Sargeras himself is pretty useless.

Oh god youre putting fire on my PTSD.

The :Legendary Symphony card is another thing warlocks dont need and make them even more overpowered for no reason.

Don’t be referencing PTSD. As someone that has lived through it I don’t take that **** lightly.

If a card game gives you PTSD you need help. You better pray you never experience actual PTSD and you can continue to cry over a stupid card game instead.
