Update on Weekly Quests

THIS. EXACTLY THIS. The literal best way to have your game operate

Given the increase in reward is around 20%, we would need to complete 5 quests every 2 weeks to get the same reward(1.2x5=6)
That means on average, 2 of the 3 quests should be 1-weeker while the 3rd can be 2-weeker.
Parity would be roughtly 30-50% difficult increase at most. Note that this is a bit higher than 20% because some quests are easier to complete than others, so it is possible that two of the three quest require relative little to no additional effort, especially with reroll. But it isn’t much higher.

So depending on the extend of the revertion, my opinion may or may not still stand. If it goes from +200% to +100% that’s still BS.

Edit: Also, if you wanted to boost engagement to the quests, you should have boosted the reward a lot more. If the reward also 3x like the requirement, it would have been fine. AFAIK uncompleted weekly roll over with progress kept, so casual player can get the same reward by doing 3 quests every 3 weeks instead of 3 per week(9 total) whereas those who want to “engage” can do more. The fundimental problem is that the difficulty scaling is vastly different than the reward. So if you do want to do +100% difficulty, reward need to be boosted by another 40%(multiplitive, which is about 50% additive from before)

Really, dude? This is the most basic political move: make something terrible, pretend that you are listening to people, and make it worse than it was before

I’ve been playing this game since the beginning. But after many years, I don’t like to spend too much time on this game, it’s more of a routine for me now, so I only do daily and weekly quests. This was enough to play F2P most of the time. But now? It looks like I have to spend 2x or 3x more time in the game. Thanks Blizz, as usual, you’ve been showing us your incompetence for years. And for me it’s probably goodbye to HS. I rly hate you BLIZZ

I’ve been playing since like 2015 and spent a lot of money on this game. This quest change is a big morale killer and I think I’m done.

Treating your customers like idiots, at its finest.
You don’t even consider player proposals that would improve the quest system (such as a series of quests for weekly quests, increasing engagement without penalizing players who play less), but you push your agenda using psychological tricks to try to trap your players.

This is disgusting, but just another example of Blizzard’s methods. How far can you stretch the rubber band before it snaps back in your face?

If you are listening to your players now… Why don’t you change the MM system to be fair? It is absolutely not fun to play against the same unfair deck more than 2 times in one row… change that and your players will be much more happy… I am sure… What? You won’t be able to block good players if you do that? Thats is your problem… a game should be entertaning not frustrating… and what you are doing is causing mental damage for players…

If you can’t create something different and guaranteed to bring excitement to the players, and even make them frustrated like this, then please return it to its original state as it was. .
15 wins, or 60 Minis cards…you guys force us to do this once a week if we want a reward? A very crazy thing!
Remember we also have our jobs in real life. They are more important than your games. Let’s not make it worse like this. And then at some point, when all the players turn their backs on you, the game will forever become a “dead game”.

You guys literally suck. For casual players, the requirements were fine; now, it feels like you are punishing us. Put it back the way it was, so that weekly quests are not such a chore!

If you want to occasionally have higher weekly requests for a special event only, they should pay at least 1000 gold.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” should be your motto.

i dont know why people are complaining. i really hope they dont take away all the extra XP.

This is insane… please revert it back to the original, or make the reward increase scale the same as the requirement… so if the quest takes 3x as long (from 5 wins to 15 wins = 300% the old requirement) also make the XP it grants 300%… thanks

people are complaining because the change to the weekly quests require much more of a work/effort increase than the extra rewards cover … why do you want to do 300% more work for 50% more rewards? that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, or many of the people complaining here … maybe 50% more rewards is worth it to you … maybe 17.33 weeks worth of 2750 (?) more xp which roughly translates to 1900 gold if my math is right is worth tripling whatever time you spend completing your weekly rewards … let’s say it took you 10 games on average to get your weekly wins, now it is going to take 30, and if each game averages 6 minues (just to get a round numbers comparison), that’s 1 hour vs 3 hours … per week … that’s a pretty significant extra investment for what barely doesn’t even cover the mini-set … maybe for people whose lives are literally based around this game, this doesn’t seem like a problem, but for casual players who have already have a rhythm of time blocked off for this game each week, it is quite jarring to hear what essentially amounts to they have to work triple overtime and their pay is being cut

my only question to you is, are you for real or part of the company’s mind games department trying to smooth over the backlash by pretending not to understand this?

The craziest part of this is that Blizzard seems to desire ‘engagement with the quest system’ when that invariably takes the form of someone jamming every card with X keyword into a casual wild deck and spamming as many out onto the board as possible before conceding, then repeating until the quest is done. Those games aren’t fun for either player and barely resemble real hearthstone. Why is this something that you want to see more of?

In marketing, it is called “anchoring”. You see a really high price, then you are shown a “sale” price, and you feel like you got a bargain, but really they sold the item for the price they wanted in the first place. Or in subscription models you may see 3-tier pricing High, Middle, and Bargain, and again the goal is to get people to pay the middle price. It works.
So this post is exactly right - we all would have been just as unhappy with an increase, and they certainly knew it because it was with no announcement. This way, we will now accept whatever they really wanted to do because it is an “improvement”.
Make no mistake, Blizzard is selling a product and doing hard core psychological marketing that is well researched.

I only did quests, now I uninstalled(all blizzard games) funny how making a game more trash makes it less playable.

Funny you mentioned this. I actually asked for a refund on Wednesday based off this same argument. I wouldn’t have bought the tavern pass had I known the increased demand on my time. I’m a casual player who can’t commit more than a few hours a week to play. Now Blizzard is asking me for double to triple my time investment. If they were gonna make this change, it should’ve been at the beginning or end of a tavern pass cycle. As expected, blizzard came back and declined my request for a refund stating that the purchase was too long ago to be refunded, which is the whole basis of my argument…

I have never, in my 6 years of playing this game felt the need to post on here before.
These quests are still a joke!
BUT that’s just the most recent “straw” on the old camel’s back! Over the recent months all Blizzard/Microsoft has been most interested in is take away modes, exp, diamond cards, etc. Meanwhile all they seem to be VERY motivated to try and squeeze more and more money outta’ bundles, diamond/signature cards, basically whatever they can. But they’re not supporting the new modes they introduce. Instead of making the modes more accessible, the basically locked out any players that don’t have a huge set of cards already out of Twist ( which I like but I also really liked Duels, and I don’t like Arena nearly as much!) sucks…
Personally it’s really worrisome to see the way that a game I play nearly DAILY, and have sunk considerable $$ on over the years. Are they trying to kill the game!?

Either revert the changes or just rename the game to heroes of the storm 2: electric boogaloo

The genius that came up with this should go back to school.

Rent is 1000 dollars. We are changing this so that rent is 3000 dollars, but don’t worry, we are including a Ninja blender to compensate. outrage Okay you know, we’ve reconsidered, and are reducing the rent to 2000 dollars, but you get to keep the blender! That should settle things…right?

It literally happened, exactly just as many people here predicted. Next time, try harder.
