Just tied a match where my opponent had no cards in hand or deck and reduced to 28hp ! while I had 6 cards on hand plus 3 on the deck
Long story short several decks copied back and forth, opponent burn roped me all game to end up tie like this because of a stupid game mechanic that I had no knowledge about
At least make it pop up in the game like a warning or something, in all my years of playing this never had happened, and let me tell you it’s really stupid
And how brilliant can the game be to give a tie despite being relatively easy to spot who’s the player who will win and the algoritm being able to predict it easily
Make it as the game to give the win to the player who deserve it or remove cards that can multiple decks , if the cards allow for the game to run past 89 rounds then only auto tie if both players are equal on loop… not when one has guaranteed win condition

If you can’t finish off your opponent after 45 turns, do you really deserve the win?

There’s always one like you…
Yes I couldn’t , multiple Nzots and full boards to remove etc …That’s how deck multiplication works
But thank you for such lovely input
Yeah nice one there buddy… xD almost believed u.
It’s a fair question. The game has a maximum length, and you couldn’t finish off your opponent by then. Why should your opponent get punished if they managed to stall you long enough to get a draw? “I didn’t know about the turn limit” isn’t really a good excuse.

after 45 turns one player is usually dead to fatigue unless they had an active gameplan to go infinite, such as dead man’s hand
Fought against a Warlock yesterday. We both ended up with 1 health. I had a board of 3 minions under 3 health each and they had 1 card in hand. I would have won the next turn BUT they used HELLFIRE! lol. It was the best tie I’ve ever had with someone. Very well played game.
edit: I should have said they were fatigued as well by that point.

I agree with Icarus. If the game can last that long, it’s because of the card mechanics that were clashing from those two decks battling. If that type of game is possible, why should the game end at any turn?
The only reason this type of rule would be implemented would be so Blizzard doesn’t have to make sure there isn’t some type of game mechanics that can make the game last for infinity. Which would be their responsibility to edit the game so that doesn’t happen.
Bottom line, it’s Blizzard’s responsibility to create a game worth playing and they haven’t done so. And if the game can last that long, why wouldn’t they let it be decided by health points rather than making a draw because Blizzard can’t foresee their possible mistakes in card engineering.
The players suffer. The players who make Blizzard money, which is the only reason the game exists to begin with. Blizzard is an abuser. An abuser of people.
turn limit has existed as long as the game, similar to how physical card games have a time limit. if they game isnt over by turn 45 then its unlikely it will be over ever since it require some sort of loop to not die to fatigue.
one of the major insights for playing card games at a high level is that health points are basically irrelevant as long as they arent 0 (no, im not gonna listen to a face hunter argument). they say nothing about whos winning, only that someone has taken slightly more damage. (known in mtg as The Philosophy of Fire)

On top of what Peverin has already said, HP are a resource as much as the cards are. Taking damage on your turn vs trading a minion, Warlocks deal 2 HP in dmg to draw a card… etc… Too many ways to hurt yourself for HP to matter beyond 1.
in addition this theory was later introduced in yugioh as the Upstart Theory, which lead to every deck playing 3 copies of Upstart Goblin which lets you draw a card but your opponent receives 1000lp (this later lead to Upstart getting limited to 1 copy). and it was simply because its worth investing your lifepoints to progresses your own gameplan, since if you can progress your own gameplan then you are getting closer to winning.
A draw can happen in this game? lol!
what ? are you telling me you never used warlock or ysera spell to end the game in a draw ?
If both players’ HP reach 0 at the same time, or if the game hits the turn limit (90 turns) then the game ends in a tie. You don’t get a win, but (in Ranked) you also don’t lose stars.
Ok Peverin. I see your point. Even if Icarus was about to reduce his opponent to 0 health next turn, it does not mean there was someone who was “winning.” There simply is no winning or losing until the end of the game. And HP is not an indicator of an army’s actual health or bloodiness. And also as you said in your next post that the HP can be used as part of the game plan. So I was looking at the game too realistically, when really it was all strategy from start to end and at turn 90 it’s a draw and it’s fair. I see my error. The game is just arithmetic and players should not relate the game to anything but a useless card game to waste our time.
the entire point of lp dont matter is that it doesnt matter if im dead next turn if i kill you this turn
Anyone who thinks this is a serious issue is taking the game (and themselves) too seriously. It’s just a game, man.
