This game is so Broken

You know when a game is broken? When your Hearthstone deck tracker shows you in the last 10 games you play you lost 5 by turn 4…really turn 4. You wonder why so many people are turning away from this game, you have given aggro decks too much capacity. There is no fun losing by turn 4, you dont stand a chance from the very start.
Seriously weighing up my options if i want to continue past this expansion, I dont want to waste my time and money on this crappy game anymore.

They dont care. They know this team needs to be replaced but they just dont care.

First of all, if you’re at the point where you’re using deck trackers, you are NOT a casual player. I know that wasn’t your ostensible point, but it’s VITALLY IMPORTANT to keep this in mind because of what I’m about to say next:

You are NOT the target audience for this game.

Read that again:

You are NOT the target audience for this game.

Keep reading it:

You are NOT the target audience for this game.

You literally aren’t. You’re not casual. This game is casual. You. Are NOT. The target audience. For this game.

Stop treating it like it’s a serious thing. It is not. If you want it to be, stop playing and find something else. You will feel much better, and have more fun. It’s a win for everyone.

Do NOT make the mistake of thinking you are a casual, and do NOT make the mistake of thinking this game WANTS you here if you are not a casual.

This game isn’t meant for you. There are many other card games out there that are more lol “hardcore” than this.

Nothing says “casual experience” like seeing multiple posts gatekeeping the playerbase. I find the whole casual vs. hardcore argument to be petty and uninformed. The game is what you make of it.
I do think the devs are struggling to find consistency in their direction with HS, which makes sense when you consider how many people have left their team in the last couple of years. Whether it’s broken or working as intended, only someone working within Team 5 would know the answer to that.

why does it matter if Im casual or not, its a friggin game and yes your right im not casual Ive been playing since beta, but what i am is a paying customer and I am not recieving the experience that i should be and I dont need keyboard warriors telling if i should be here or not. I pay for this game I have every right to be here and voice my opinions

you’re either dead by turn 4 or it becomes all rng after that. if you make it passed turn 4 or 5 both players just throw cards at each other and pray to rngeezus

The game has been broken for a long time. I’ve spent exactly $0 on the game in the past 5 years or so. I just don’t reward bad design. I play it for what it’s worth but have moved to other games. I am reasonably certain they don’t’ take on new players anymore. There is no reward in playing it. If the game ever gets back to being fun again, I will support it. But they have to earn that at this point.

You arent wrong by any means. This team and their lead designer have been a dumpster fire for this game for awhile now. When MS took over they should have replaced the people leading the team first and put in people who knew what they were doing. Instead they kept the idiots and boot lickers and 9/10 fired those who actually knew what they were doing.

Put yourself in the shoes of a new players are trying to play this miserable game. Any wonder it can’t attract new players when the experience is so got damn awful.

What exactly do you think the term “gatekeeping” actually means? Genuinely curious because you’ve used it incorrectly. Nobody’s “restricting access” to anything. There is no Quid Pro Quo. It’s literally one dude being salty, me telling him “this game isn’t for him” and YOU, sir or madam, barging in to cry foul because “muh gatekeeps.”

EDIT: Apparently you haven’t used the term multiple times. My apologies.

The casual-vs-hardcore argument is socio-scientific in nature and extends far beyond humble Hearthstone. Do some research.

This game is NOT “what you make of it” or else we wouldn’t BE here having this discussion, now would we?

Their direction for the last decade has been to attract a more casual audience. If you think game-overs by turn 4 are unintentional you’re not reading the room. Those who are leaving, are not the target audience. If the devs wanted them back, they’d make changes to bring them back. They haven’t yet and are unlikely to do so in the future.

See above.

It only matters to you, and apparently a great deal because you’re offended by the mere notion. YOU are the one judging here, not me. I’m stating a fact and you’re getting the feels. Ish-you, not ish-me.

Then keep being mad, not my problem.

I never said you shouldn’t be here voicing your opinion. Again, disagreeing with you is not the same as censorship. Telling you how to be happier with your free time, is not DEMANDING you follow my advice. Live a little.

You’re playing the game and discussing it publicly. That’s retention metrics and advertisement on the bubble. Sure, you’re not “spending money” but there are things more valuable than legal tender. And you’re freely donating them.

The game has changed direction in the last decade. That is true.

Do you have any hard data whatsoever on this? Or is this just your personal feelings that you’re projecting?
