So I just gave the new tavern brawl a whirl and decided to build an imbue hunter deck, multiclassed with druid for Hamuul and nature spells to start scaling up the hero power super quickly. It’s fresh and different and I can only imagine what other silly combos people will come up with.
A rather well-known youtuber/twitch-streamer (I hate the word content creator so don’t make me use it!) wisely argued that this mode begs for a Twist implementation, so folks can semi-competitively play this over a longer period, and also to breathe some life into the Twist format. And I agree. I’d probably make that my primary mode to experiment with for the foreseeable future, because standard and wild are boring at the moment and BG’s have too much snowballing in the current iteration.

I don’t know what they were thinking with twist
It was basucally meant to be monthly tavern brawl with a ladder, but instead they mostly implemented boring game building restrictions that you could literaly make up with a friend
There are plenty of interesting ideas that’d be good to experiment in twist but they’d rather have the mode dead for half a year
Dual class has been asked for years
All cards are tradeable has been suggested recently
Heck there could be a rule "your deck must contain 20 cards of your class, and 1 of each other class, or 10 of your class and 2 of eachother
That’d be at least somewhat more interesting than “Hey you can decide to play a renathal deck that doesn’t need renathal, CRAZY AREN’T WE ??? Oh yeah and you’ll face people that don’t care about that rule and play 30 cards regardless”
Or even than “Hey you ever heard of those streamers that challenge eachother in small tournaments where they ban specific expansions ? that thing all you need for is friends to play with and to agree on the deck building rule . Yup, we’re gonna make FOUR MONTHS of it ! Exciting isn’t it ?”

I don’t understand why carefree cookie is banned and not Hammul…
I was having a great time until i found abominations like imbue mage with the broken hero power from the start of the game…

I’m enjoying the mode, made a quest cycle demon hunter rogue deck. It’s fun to see what people come up with at first, we’ll see what prevails.

They just banned all tourists so you don’t try to build with 3 classes

After playing for quite a while the 2 decks that seem out of control are simply druid/mage imbuing the hero power, up to a rate where they can start throwing 8 damage an activation by turn 7.
Second thing broken is simply anything that can discount priest’s Light speed spell to zero. The first time I saw the combo I was like that’s neat I didn’t know the discount works like that. After thinking about it you realize it’s pretty consistent and abusable. You can just die turn 6 at random and I think I dc’ed from the game due to it…
Still it’s decent mode and only day not surprising some combo’s are overtuned.

i combined ship dk with ship dh
now i can summon all sorts of stuff
It is not fun and you think it is fun only because nobody wants to build really strong competitive decks to get one pack.
Got back from a short swim at the park, and lost my first match to a Mage-Druid Imbue deck. I had faced a few of these decks, but this was my first one that I loss to, so I switched to the same class combo.
I played around ten more matches and 6 out of 10 were against Mage-Druid Imbue decks.
So basically…imbue mage 2.0
There was a slight shift in the meta, which included a Discover Quest Rogue-Mage and a Quest Warrior deck. The Warrior deck runs a Testing Dummy support package, which includes Endbringer Umbra and it makes use of Tortolla and Zilliax to help shutdown Imbue Mage.
Most players are still using some version of Imbue Mage-Druid, like myself. I added 2x Royal Librarian to help deal with Tortolla. There is a poison weapon that can be discovered from Symbiosis, which is also great solution for Tortolla. I just won 6 games in a row, so my deck is doing fine so far.
My current build looks like this:

I put the 2x Royal Librarian back into my deck to help deal with the abundance of Quest Warrior decks that I was encountering last night, and I stopped being matched against Warriors until I finally faced one 20 matches later. Royal Librarian silences Tortolla to help get the win!

A couple of different Rogue-Mage decks surfaced today. Some are running the Mage Quest, which is why I run 1x Rustrot Viper to destroy the weapon. The other variants are some kind of Big Spell Rogue-Mage build.
Putting Aessina back in the deck has helped win a lot of mirror matches.
