It’s a game supposedly aimed also at children and it should not have blatant gambling.
In fact it is illegal in several countries and this will not be available there.

You have a similar first reaction as I had.
I’ve advocated for making gambling illegal in games (except 18+) here in Germany and the EU for years. Now Blizzard gives me even more reasons to do so.

You probably didn’t see it, but on their page for this, there’s a line showing you have to be 18+ to use this system.
That doesn’t make Hearthstone an 18+ game. Also that isn’t even true.

“certain regions” only means specific countries where it is already illegal.

Implying children ever say the truth on video games. It’s a video game. It should not have gambling.

I’ve played this game since release. I have almost every seasonal card back. This is the line. They’ve pushed and pushed trying to find the line and this is it. I’m embarrassed to say I fell for this same mechanism during the Diablo Immortal WoW crossover for the Illidan skin and NEVER AGAIN. This is as predatory as it gets. Do not kid yourself. You will never get the chase item without spending more than $100.
