Where these decks are at is honestly indefensible. It’s taken the “if everything powerful, then everything is balanced!” idea and cranked it up to 11.
Slot machine mage IS NOT FUN.
Paladins don’t even need to highriok to either have 1. You dead by turn 6 or, 2. Two 9/9s on turn 5. These scenarios ARE NOT FUN.
Praying the hunter doesn’t draw even just mediocre IS NOT FUN.
I’ve been playing since launch and this is the worst the game has ever felt in my opinion. Few wins feel good/deserved, losses 80% of the time come down to “who drew what in the first 3 turns?” and I find that more often than not I’m just far more unhappy with my experiences than happy.
I love hearthstone and have supported it for a long time, but the design team really need to look at what the end result of constant mistakes has created, and know it’ll make the floor fall out from under them soon.
That’s what in trying to work out. I think it would have to be be 2 Braggarts copying the opponent’s earlier Edwin, or coin Authority on 4 followed by Braggart, as if the untouched 9/9 wouldn’t win on its own…
Patiently waiting for Mallenroh to wake up, spot this topic and begin to defend the mage class.
No offense Mall! You know I love ya.
Anyhoo, I just made a spell mage deck which relies a lot on Discover and other random effects. It is by no means OP and it is quite fun to play. I enjoy gambling, and that’s sort of what it feels like. This is perhaps a testament to the point you’re making, however!
Which would of course count as a consistent game plan which Paladins can enact in every match they face (especially those against classes other than Rogue)
Which would not only require the Paladin to have both Authority and Braggart in hand (ok not entirely unlikely, but wouldn’t call either a favourite pick for the early game), but it would also require the opponent to have left the Paladin with an available 1/1 minion from turn 3 (which would be a major blunder on the opponent’s part).
[@Arzoo - Please note that my sarcasm in this post is not addressed to you , but rather at the OP for suggesting that 2 9/9s on 5 is not only possible but “don’t even need to highriok” (sic)]
People will see no problem with this, because thats one of the decks they are probably playing on ladder. How they get any satisfaction by playing such decks is beyond me - hand vomit decks are bad, especially when they don’t run out of steam (and if they do, you’re on the brink of losing the game anyway) and the only thing worse than that are the devs fueling this kind of broken design. That’s why this meta is insufferable. Hunters drawing their entire deck before I draw half of mine, paladins and mages with 50 card decks, then people have the nerve to moan about priests, one of the few classes right now that takes any semblance of strategic gameplay to win against these decks.
The satisfaction comes from seeing people playing their ‘homebrew’ trash tier 3 decks squirm, all the while they desperately try to vouch for their superiority over people who have no issue realizing metas while building over them, instead of staying in a state of permanent denial.
The common ground among these people seems to be their crappy deck building skills combined with a clear overestimation of their actual mechanical understanding of the game.
Also,
Where these decks are at is honestly indefensible.
People see no problem with this because this is how the game is supposed to be.
Decks playing differently are exact what should happen . People overstimate too much their game knowledge .
Good design push the limits of the game and this exact what is happening here. To anyone who not likes it the door is always open and I even incentive people to go out and check other games.
Because in the end I know that hearthstone is the less heartbreaking as a cardgame can be of what is at market RN.
It’s hard to admit to oneself that 'Hey, maybe I’m not very good and perhaps I built my deck badly. I admit my skill level is relatively low, I’m somewhat new and am still learning. I can’t blame my opponent nor their choice of deck. I blame myself and mistakes I make while playing and while constructing my deck.
100% agree with that. These last few expansions there were a lot of cards clearly way too over the top. Only kept in check thanks to multiple classes has access to equally insane cards or synergies.
I feel the same. Kinda the reason why I do not invest any money anymore and lately not even my time. Just log in every 3 days, complete quests while progressing towards D5, exit game. Log in 3 days later…
I do not think any expansion made me feel that way - do I have satisfaction from a win? Very rarely. Do I feel outplayed when I lose? Very rarely.
Though I still think HS is kinda nice game though I hope they would come up and tell us what is their conception of HS. Do they feel ok with created by rng decks? Do they push these insane swing turns on purpose? Would they continue to do so in the future? Would there be some “toning down” of these RNG, discover and power turns? Or increase? Just some info what they are going to do with the game.
Funny that OP complains about hunter’s “abnormal” draws when the entire deck’s built in a way to ensure you have extremely solid early game that drops like a cow’s tail 'lest you draw Polkelt.
Or in general terms; their deck’s built to beat OP’s deck while OP’s deck hasn’t account for their deck.
Where exactly is he complaining about hunters abnormal draws?
I thought he mentioned
And thats true. If hunter avoids bad draw the deck can put enormous pressure you have a trouble to deal with when you do not draw well enough.Even when you are in a favourable matchup and you draw crap.
At same time when hunter doesnt draw well enough he might struggle to pressure you enough even when you have bad matchups against them.
To be honest I am kinda average player though I havent seen that much matches where I was outplayed by a hunter or where I was able to outplay the hunter. Its mostly decided by a draw only. Same as watching streamer fighting vs. hunter.
There is difference in solid early game, weak early game and insane early game.
Some of us just like not being pigeon-holed into either swingy high-roll decks (paladin, druid, mage) or face decks (Demon Hunter, Hunter). There’s really very little middle ground in this meta, and because the power swing explicitly built into it are so huge, no room for off meta builds.
Pure paladin is the most powerful, most boring deck I’ve seen since cubelock. Shaman should have been the natural counter, but they forgot to print good cards for the class to keep up with anything else.
