I know the format is different using health instead of mana but…
i just played a druid who on his FIRST turn did 16 damage to me, had two 8/8 minions (one with taunt) and a magical dollhouse on the board.
AND had more health then me (12 w/o armor and 16 with).
even with the same deck, on turn 2 his 8/8 will kill my 8/8 taunt and then the other 8/8 will drop me to 6 hp. IDK what i could play on round 2 that would take out the 8/8 taunt and do damage to the player that wouldn’t kill my 6 hp.
is something like this the meta for blood magic? been playing for a month so what am i missing?

Yep, that’s how this tavern brawl has always been : dominated by druids.
Mage, Paladin and DH had a shot in the latest appearance thanks to cards giving them immune, or giving them armor they could use.
But last year they changed the way paying with health works. It used to be negated by immune, and depleted armor before health. Now it strictly requires health and goes through immune, so these class lost their power plays.
Druid is the last class that can abuse this thanks to cost efficient draws and healing effects.

thanks for the reply.
trying to undersand the point of this brawl, if a class and deck can do all this in the first round.

You can win on the first turn with Mage, albeit with luck of the draw
Pyroblast (-10 health)
and Sunset Volley (-9 health)
and Iceblood Tower (-10 health)
Leaves you with 1 health. If Iceblood happens to play your other copy of Sunset Valley at the end of your turn its a turn 1 KO.
Rather lucky and cheap but I pulled it off the other day. Genuinely felt bad for the other player. Who was Druid naturally

If your opponent has renathal it’s pretty much impossible to OTK with mage on turn 1 for 40
And where it’s often really hard to comeback from a big turn 1 play, druids can go back to full health if you leave them at even 2 health, especially thanks to Pendant of Earth into Ceaseless Expanse
However, if you want to target them, you can go for Paladin with Front Lines and a bunch of cards disrupting them (rebuke, resistance aura, Nerubian Unraveler, Merch Seller, Crossroads Watch Post…)
Just try to have a removal for the potential malygos that Front Lines could summon
