Someone please school me on why the system randomly wants me to remove quoted text? am i doing it wrong in some way soemtimes?

I think that happens if your quote has a link in it, or if you’re quoting the entire post.
This is a quote test.
System removes it if you’re quoting the post directly above yours.
There’s a workaround to that. You can highlight most (not all) of the text and use the pop-up quote button. But if you simply Reply and use the quote button on the last post, the system will eat it. That said, if you hit Reply and click that quote button twice, it’ll bypass the system, but the quoted post will be displayed twice, which is a little annoying.
