The Idea of the card is to destroy a big minion boards that the priest is struggling to clear.
The copied minions shouldn’t gain their ability’s also as it offers to much RNG, especially when it a prime minion.

It’s a priest card… so yeah expect cheese… the only class in the game that hardly ever gets nerfed despite it being the most annoying class in the game
Except when two of its main win conditions get removed from Standard, you mean?
Don’t get it wrong i won the game with my hunter, but 7cost legendary shouldn’t offer that kind of advantage.
Especially when 2 turns later your smashed with plague of death that should cost 10 mana
I don’t think that’s the idea of Soul Mirror. Soul Mirror seems clearly designed as part of Priest’s ability to steal/copy the opponent’s minions (same with things like Psyche Split). There’s little point in printing a card that helps Priest “just” remove big minion boards when it already has Plague of Death and (more importantly) Shadow Word: Ruin.
You mean combo priest… galakron control priest is way better then combo in my opinion… which works with a lot of the replacement cards they got… if anything it was probably a buff… they removed all those combo cards despite no one even playing combo competitively at the time… what they replaced them with was actually better control wise and in the long run…
Your opinion is unsupported by the available data.
None of which are usually run in Galakrond Priest, except for Thoughtsteal (which wasn’t a new card, just a buffed one).
It wasn’t.
Combo Priest was consistently a Tier 1 deck before Divine Spirit was rotated. Galakrond Priest is consistently a Tier 3 deck.
Yes, they replaced combo finishers with better control tools… which don’t win games. They just let you wear the opponent down. The only reason that’s even remotely possible is because for a while there were no viable combo decks to prey on Priest’s grind-and-outvalue strategy. With the new Quest Warlock continuing its refinement, those days are likely over, and now unlike other times where combo decks were prevalent, Priest doesn’t have finishers that can help close games before Warlocks finish their combo.
Loosing cleric was the biggest nerf they ever got… that card was waaay too good…
I actually don’t mind soul mirror so much it’s a fun design if I’m being honest… There are a lot more worse things in that class to worry about…
Madmax i tend to read most of you’re reply’s and take you for a troll, but this time is see you’re point.
Still though the affect should cost 8 if the spell is going to offer
While moving plague of death to 10 cost or else the swing comes to soon after leaving the mid game.
People will complain again about priest dragging the game out more but at least you know that was the players intention.
Currently priest clears the boards too frequently, forcing people to play Arrgo decks. The one thing this current rotation needs to reduce.
…thanks?
But it doesn’t do all those things at once. If you clear the board, then you don’t get sticky minions, or their abilities. If you get to keep sticky minions, then you haven’t cleared the board and you have (at best) 3 mana and whatever minions you had on board prior to deal with the opponent’s board. Soul Mirror is powerful, but not powerful enough to warrant the one mana increase. Particularly given that your issue seems to be against other control/midrange decks, where the one extra mana wouldn’t impact Soul Mirror’s usage as much because you’re unlikely to need it as a turn 7 board clear.
The most popular Galakrond decks don’t run Plague of Death, and it’s only a one-of on Highlander Priest (if it’s run at all). Pushing it to one more mana would (again) make little difference against slower decks, and make Priest even more vulnerable to aggro. Your suggestions for both Soul Mirror and PoD actually make aggro decks better against Priest, not worse.
I don’t have that card, but I love it and plan to craft it if I ever build a priest deck…
this is impossible
if you get minions after effect ends it means opponent minions survived too
there is no way playing soul mirror on its own without any other cards would destroy opponent board while keeping the copies alive
