So I think we actually get less gold than before

Okay so in less than a month a new expansion will be upon us, which means, the reward system and levels will be reset. I wanted to take this time to check in with everyone to see where everyone is at.

I play hearthstone for a couple of hours a day. I’ve been doing so since the launch to see how much time is needed to actually gain bonus levels.

I Know there was a lot of discussion regarding changes to the gold system from the way it was previously. Many had concerns regarding whether or not it would work out to be less or more gold.

So currently I’m at level 240 , I used 2000 for the mini expansion, 1500 for the King “whatever his name is” and the rest is for the expansion when is comes out.

So as it stands for me, I do feel that the old system gave more gold. In order to break even, I have to play an insane amount, where as before, I was able to gain my 100 gold daily to for my wins, + the daily quests that I would do.

Considering that it’s been 3 months since the current expansion has been out and I"m at lvl 240 for playing an average of 2 hrs a day, getting to level 350 which is 110 more levels in less than 1 month does not seem realistic, not unless I were to play night and day for the next 4 weeks, something which I have zero intentions of doing. Nor do I think it’s fair that we should have to spend that amount of time in the game in order to reach the 350 level.

So I’m curious as to how everyone else is doing.

i’m fine with the system but i’m a very extreme case. i absolutely hate what the card game has become so i only play battlegrounds now. the current system lets me get gold to buy the pass. i’m certain i would have many complaints about the system if i actually cared but blizz clearly don’t so why should i.

You bought the Tavern pass for battlegrounds with gold?

Neat, that’s good to know.

not as neat as you think. it’s 1500 gold. so a lot of gold with a very grindy system. luckily battlegrounds is free and doesn’t have a pay to win aspect beyond the pass so it’s easy to ignore for a little while.

Yeah it is a very grindy system, however, all games have grindy systems. It’s the nature of the beast. 1500 is not bad considering you get the xp boost, otherwise it would be super grindy and I would probably want to gouge out my eyes.

I got like, 4000 gold this expac. Which is pretty normal for me. But the flashy quest and level up lights make monkey brain go, “OOOOO!!” so I like it.

I’ve definitely gotten more than before. I’m happy with the new patch since they tweaked it.

I usually have 6000-7000 gold each expansion. This time, I have over 8.000 and bought the mini set for 2.000. So I got a lot more

I just hit level 61? 62? earlier today. Granted, I’ve not been playing a lot between migraines and hectic work. I haven’t been completing all the quests, often rolling at least 1 weekly over, and I’ll often miss a couple of dailies as well.

I’m just shy of 4k gold now. That’s far and away much much more than I had banked before the DMF launch… and that’s not including at least 4 card back purchases with gold, so count that as another 2-4k.

That’s in every way shape and form better than the old system for me, especially as I had been doing several heroic duels runs with Tavern Tickets I had left over from the past. That meant that most of my quests progressed and I was earning exp for playing something besides Constructed.

I still think that, at the end of the day, HS is too expensive for me to recommend it to friends. However, I do think that a lot of the recent and upcoming changes (such as duplicate protection, the core set being free, th3 revamped rewards system, and purchasing minisets for gold in lieu of IRL $) have made significant strides in the correct direction.

I said to myself right before the DMF launch that I would pick up the Tavern Pass and give them the benefit of the doubt for one expansion cycle. If things didn’t improve, I was going to quit when the rotation occurred. Things have improved, and I’ll continue to keep supporting the game financially.

One could have earned minimum of 16 200 gold in these 108 days in previous system. Im pretty sure it would be around 3 hours of HS a day to kill rank 25 noobs.
With new system you have to play what? 12 hours a day to reach max level and earn 20k gold?

Well in the old system it was 100 a day cap for wins, then when you factor in your daily quest some gave more but factor in 7 quests for the week at an average of 50 gold x 7.

I got way more gold in the old system than what I’ve currently have now. And I didn’t have to grind as much as I have this expansion.

i bought both the mini-set and and bg perks with gold aswell as extra packs for the first two weeks after the expansion and i already have more gold saved up for next expansion than i have had with the old system

This new system is more than 100% better for me. I play slow meme decks so rarely win. In the old system I used to save up between 6-8k gold per expansion. I’m edging 13k after buying the miniset with gold.

I got more than normal I think.

I don’t really track gold. I spend however much on whatever and often am between 100-1500 gold at the end of an expansion.

This expansion I have over 5000 but did pay an extra 20 bucks for the bonus xp thing so…whatever.

This is pretty much my exact situation. I’ll probably be about 13,500 when the expansion drops. Usually I’m around 8,500. And that was back when I was try-harding. Now I almost exclusively play casual and I’m still making more.

I casually played on the way to and from work yesterday, completed a quest or two and got 3 levels for 150 gold. This was probably about 3 or 4 games of Battlegrounds.

Previously, I would have only got 100-120g from completing 2 quests and 10g from 3 wins, for a total of 110-130g.

The new system is better.

I’m a long-time casual player who mostly just completes quests, and I definitely make more gold than before.

Usually I’d have around 5,000 gold for an expansion launch, but so far I’ve got almost 7,000 and that’s after spending 2,000 on the mini expansion.

I started DMF with 15095 gold.
I bought 60 DMF packs with gold, so I was down to 9095 gold.
I am level 173 and I’m now sitting on 18035 gold but I also bought the mini expansion and 2 or 3 card backs, each for 500 g.
That means I made at least 12k and I used to make 8k-9k in the old system.
So yeah, the new reward system is definitely better for me.
