I mean, isnt that what happens with almost every class? They get different packages every expansion and sometimes they go well together and make a deck. Secrets seems like an archetype that can mix with other archetypes well, as opposed to SI7 which requires you to make your whole deck based off of it.
It depends, some are supposed to be complete packages, like dr, pirates, SI since the cards to support those do not leave open space.
Some others can be smaller packages like it used to be with stealth and with secrets in the past.
The main issue with secrets atm is that because core has absolutely nothing for those for rogue, it needs to monopolise the whole expansion for them to even begin to work as a “smaller” package (due to their nature).
As for “it happens with all the classes” I’d have to disagree. Most classes have established themes that get worked/expanded upon rather than brand new themes every expansion.
Rogue should either get 2 new Secrets - or it’s a sleeper card and more Secrets should come later this year. I wouldn’t rule out a “Steal your opponent’s Secret” card either, though that would make Secret synergy quite unreliable.
In Wild, however, it might be a nice adition to a certain Shady Dealer and his juwels.
If the secrets are good, this card looks quite nice. It’s basically Star Student Stelina for one less mana, and easier to fill condition, and it’s not a legendary so you can run two.
tbf, with brann, zola, and shadowsteps, you can easily deplete your opponent’s hand…
but the big ask here will be the secrets (which for rogue they aren’t traditionally strong) and if you can survive till the mana required to do such shenanigans.
Deathrattle, Secrets & Miracle seem to be the three rogue archetypes this set. What’s missing from Deathrattle can really be like… a single support card. But what that deck really needs is some more high impact deathrattles. And the the set is getting lots of neutral deathrattles anyway (I believe they mentioned that).
The AoO secrets were all fab.
Even SI:7 is like… a 15 card package (the quest, all the SI:7 cards, shadowstep)? That’s not too bad.
It’s 3 random choices, the UI doesn’t allow more than 4 cards for that type of thing I don’t think. But it’s 3.
at this point, you can make a rogue deck with 20 “dr support” cards but not enough actual things to support!
just no. without even the 5/4, the si+shadowsteps were just by themselves 17 cards, 19 with the 5/4. If you add the draw and removal necessary to even have a deck, you are reaching around 25-27 cards already.
Only Dirty tricks was, ambush was only run because there was nothing else. bamboozle was the first thing you cut even on “secret decks” (optimal “secret rogue” deck you run around 4 rogue secrets to begin with lol, so “fab”.)
in reality you only run the secrets to a)draw (dirty tricks, spakjoy), b)sap (stunner) c)start Hanar chains
Forgive me if this has been said: Expansions are developed in advance, and sometimes this means an expansion might have, essentially, an incomplete package added, and later further supported. Sometimes these packages remain incomplete, however, unfortunately. I’m unsure how they decide what receives more support, and what’s given up on. For example, Frost Mage in standard. We were given support, and the archetype failed miserably. No further support was given. Ping Mage was also incomplete for some time, and now it’s viable.
There’s already a lot of pretty good deathrattles, the deck lacks good mid-range tempo deathrattles (i.e. ones that cost 4 or less). Those don’t have to be rogue cards.
Draw and removal? SI:7 is a tempo deck. You don’t need a ton of draw (probably like a shroud) and certainly don’t need very much removal especially since the SI:7 package has lots of removal in it. There’s flex slots.
They were fine. Ambush was certainly a good card. “People played it because there wasn’t anything better” is pretty much a meaningless statement.
