I have no idea why so many people were running prince renathal in their deck, why would you want to suffocate your draw chance with more cards being stuffed in your deck, anyway it was the easiest legend rank in my life.
^ it was october season,
I managed to hit rank 138 legend again this morning using the same dragon druid ramp deck for november '24 season
Renathal decks in this meta are like training wheels. They don’t really help you go faster but are good if you don’t know how to ride.
Also we are under a 1 month event that is renathal being avaible in standard. So many people also want to play it in standard again while they have the chance.
Put this together with netdecking and you created a self fullfiling profecy. It does not need to be good, just people to believe it is good.
Lmao Ren has a 56% deck winrate. Why wouldn’t you? There’s so many good cards now, the tradeoff is filthy to get 10 life it makes the difference a lot of times against super aggro decks.
I am sincerely perplexed by the decision that these players had to take while trying to grind rank with this abomination called prince renathal??? It only delays your inevitable demise playing for 20 minutes long game and ended up losing?
It largely comes down to a few key points that you have to consider:
How much runway do you need in aggro matchups to stand a good chance? For example, BSM benefits greatly from the 40 health in the aggro MU due to having strong tutoring that lets then consistently pull the spells they need to stabalize by a key turn. Its worth noting, they typically don’t need that spell until turn 4,5 or 6, so this factors into consideration.
Do you need a key card by a turn to be competitive? If so, 40 cards is likely not the deck you want to run. A good example of this is egg hunter, they need the eggs early on enough so that they can start chaining into ridiculous plays. Another example is Shaffar rogue.
Do you have insane amounts of draw and mana ramp? Spell druid and even the low-tier Reno warrior and Odyn warrior fall into this category of decks.
Is there some weird interaction with 40 health that actually acts to your advantage? Pain lock is a weird example, where dropping an INFERNO, lets you drop mountain giants the same turn. Also the extra life allows more self-damage runway, while their draw is reasonably strong to counteract the extra cards to draw through.
You are perplexed because you are evaluating it based on your feelings, and your feelings are five years out of date if they were ever accurate. Try looking at the numbers next time… and not the numbers you just make up to reply to someone.
tbh i was quite confused back then people played patches the pirate to thin out the deck now we got this renathal??? what the hell happened???
i see it has value in big spell mage due to tutoring like what yellovvsnovv said but for other control decks?? they need to at least have more draw spells in order to compensate that loss
Well, in that case, I don’t know why you’re lying. You are most definitely not Legend yet. Only 3 people are, and they had 11-star bonus, which made their grind much faster.
If you were talking about the previous month/season, well, that’s not a big achievement, since you did it on the final day of the season, when the games are too easy (every good player already hit legend).
