“Rest of the game”? Pretty sure it is only for one turn lol.
Yeah, someone clearly didn’t make any effort to understand how the card works before he started calling for nerfs.
Yeah… and yet the guy claims he is abusing the card but doesn’t know its effect.
Weird
Lawl, good to know. I played Reno three times today and my opponents never played more than one minion a turn afterwards, so it looks like I made a bad connection about how it works.
Exactly, Snake Oils can ruin highlander decks just as well as Plagues… thats why they have added them into neutral category… to be able use it against it I think. However Steam Cleaner can make it removed of course.
Maybe if there wasn’t a Class that can Ramp to 8 Mana on Turn 5.
Oh does it now
…
Anyway, just make it a poof effect that doesn’t stop the opponent from playing only 1 minion next turn. It just curves too well for Druid.
Ramp → Turn 5 Reno → Turn 6 Rheastrasza (because there is no board pressure from my board locked opponent) and it goes downhill from there.
Card is strong as is but (surprisingly) Druid can abuse it too early.
Who would have thought that a high-cost Neutral would be good on Druid.
In a world where the modern day 1 cost card has the power of a classic 3 cost card, every modern card needs to be “under costed” to see play.
Yeah but even if you play Reno on turn 8 you don’t achieve that much, hero power is good but not crazy. And he’s a defensive card mostly, I see nothing wrong with a defensive card that costs 8 mana and is only available for singleton decks. Personally, I wouldn’t include him in the first batch of nerfs and if I would nerf him I would touch his second effect, limiting your opponent to just 1 minion can be pretty hurtful, maybe increase that limit to 2 or 3 and Reno is fine.
I don’t understand the logic.
8 Mana to gain 5 Armor, gain a better HP, poof the opponent’s board exclusively and disallow them from summoning more than 1 minion next turn seems ‘fine’ to you
?
I don’t see it.
Card is as strong as Yogg was on release and we know how that ended.
You want to know why Druid will be Tier 1 … it’s because of Reno, not Rheastrasza or the rest of the Dragon package.
If Druid is tier 1, it will be due to its obscenely pushed ramp and other class cards, not because of Reno.
Read what you said again
Almost as if one brings the other
Well atm Highlander Druid is in the middle of tier 2, behind 14 other decks. 3 of those decks being other Druid decks. 2 Other Highlander decks are performing better than Druid. This is just from the free version of HSReplay on day 2 of the expansion of course so take it with a grain of salt, but Reno seems to be alright so far. We’ll have to wait to see how the nerf to the Azerite Snake changes things. Slower decks should perform better depending on the nerf.
That “logic” makes no sense whatsoever. I’m tired of seeing otherwise fair neutral cards get nerfed into the ground because Druid continues to get the tools to abuse more expensive cards. If you’re going to nerf someone, hit the class itself, not cards that other classes depend upon to play fairer games.
The only card that needs adjusted is the taunt dragon. Everything else in that deck is more than fair.
reno is basically a yugioh card, but yugioh has to option to say no almost whenever; locking your opponents board is literally the most anti fun thing you can do, and remember this is the same team that nerfed cast 5 spells to deal 3 to enemies because neutral aoes are too strong, but now we have have one thats even better and stuns your opponent if they want to play the game
I think the POOF effect has started to be a bit overused, I feel like Reno destroying locations and dormant targets is enough without ALSO stopping res effects and deathrattles and corpses. Especially alongside the board lock.
I also think it’s a little cheap at 8.
But I haven’t seen it enough to have much more of an opinion than that.
I mean this card isnt really overpowered… but it completely eliminates the ability for minion based decks to function.
Its already hard enough to build a board through the half a billion board clears already… but a board clear on top of a skip a turn makes minion based decks obsolete in hearthstone today
Thats why snake/sif/odyn/hunter/dh burn decks are infesting hearthstone and outside of the anamoly that is druid (due to hand buffs) tribal decks like elementals are completely absent outside someone trying out the gimmick
Albatross from my perspective was far better.
- You spend 1 more mana on tech card, which makes it harder to play it (and put pressure on your opponent), with more health on deathrattle as you want to shuffle it into your opponent deck before they can get rid of it otherwise (silence, poof). Opponent can play around it, let it live and play their highlander card.
- If you want to kill it yourself, 5 health is harder again - most classes have 1-2 mana options to deal 3 damage to your own minion. So you could activate it for 4-5 mana. This one is 4 mana base and to activate you need another 3-4 mana.
- If you are playing against non-highlander, aggro deck they would get “dead card” into their hand with albatross and drain their resources and end up playing 1/1, because they had nothing else in hand. Now they can just pay 1 mana tax to trade it when they need it.
- It costs 0 mana to get rid off and takes no boardspace, no space in hand, so if you play some control, you dont really care about it that much. For example priest will just throw it away, it does not polute the res package (druid, priest, maybe others in future).
- You have steamcleaner now, which I think you did not have before anything with this effect - so even if you manage to play it, they can get rid of it instantly for the same price… Yes, steamcleaner is 4/4 for 4, but counters your effect.
So yeah, from my perspective it is just much worse card than albatross. Maybe that is a goal, because albatross definitelly felt bad for opponents, no matter what they played.
From my perspective, snake oil should be reworked - have rush/taunt (so it has some impact, not just yetti), be 3 mana, have different statline (I imagine 3 mana 4/3 or 4 mana 5/4, so opponent needs to kill it), the snake oil cost 1 mana to play or not be tradeable.
Not all of these, but at least 2 of those would make this card feel better to be played.
I’m playing Ele Shaman just fine at 1k legend. This extra bit at the end of your post was unneccessary.
wait how did you make your reno cost 0?
and if no duplicates isnt a restriction to you
run your own reno to counter druid egg !
