Just what I’ve said. having two systems overlaying one another is a mess that should never have been implemented.

it will break the meta balance. Because since system tries players to get %50 win rate the strong decks faces strong decks and lower their winrate. So they remove it there will be huge jumps to some overpowered decks and everybody will play same decks.
-
it will cause more people to enter legend. since it doesn’t force lower the winrate of player they will breeze through ranked and enter legend faster than the meta balance it self. and the more people in legend it will be way harder to climb ranks. currently it is already hard because if you don’t play a while you get lowered in rank.
So it is not going to happen.
How about you remove the pointless ranks instead and keep the MMR ?
Not going to happen because it will take away feeling of achievement. just think when a player reaches to mmr treshold they will not be able to increase the mmr and it will discourage player to play more. People will leave the game and devs don’t want that.
I’ve long referred to everything below Diamond 5 as “participation trophy ranks.” They’re clearly designed to have you climb even if your winrate is slightly below 50%. They really are there just to make grinders feel good.
Just to clarify, I’m pretty sure that Ranked matchmaking IS by rank instead of MMR, unless you have a Star Bonus from getting high rank in the previous month (in which case you don’t even need a 35% winrate to climb so who cares if opponent is harder) or either of the two players has Legend rank.
So for the most part, the only time it’s really noticeable is when you’re in Diamond and you start getting matched somewhat regularly against players who are in “dumpster Legend” because as soon as they got out of Diamond they turned Serious Mode off and completed quests or something.
I would be ok with this too. One or the other.
Having both is ridiculous to me.
That is true for old players who can reach diamond 5 at the first day.
I saw complaining of 5 years of player still not able to climb diamond rank not even once. That is actually amazing.
Also there is a fact that if your mmr is too low the game match you with the bots. Earlier this month while I am experimenting with some decks that totally suck I witness that alot. Before that I was not getting matched against bots at all and I was seing all the complaints about the bots in this forum.
Yeah at this point what’s the point of silver, gold and platinum if you’ll just get to stomp blizz bots into diamond ?
How’s that an accomplishment anymore ?
It isn’t just MMR. If you are being matchmade by rank, which DOES happen, and there’s no one at your rank to match you with, you get a bot.
Or to put it another way, getting queued against a bot doesn’t care about MMR vs rank, it just cares about time in queue.
Well they’re already playing the same decks over and over again. In Diamond it’s the same 3 decks… Pirate Rogue, Totem Shaman and Secret Mage. Now one of the aggro Paladin decks wreck all 3. In Legend you still see those same decks because we go up against some Diamond level players.
As long as i still get the same free stuff i’m fine with them removing the ranks. I guess that would mean if you made legend in the previous month you auto get legend and get free stuff and never need to play standard again?
Okay i am done with my comedy routine. You understand if you remove those ranks and set everyone at D5 it will be an absolutely MISERABLE game experience for the first 10 days of each month? Spreading out the climb stops a log jam from forming at the top immediately.
If you don’t like the climb maybe you should put in some effort to finish as a legend for one month and then be on easy street forever. Is the effort to much to ask of players? Is that the problem?
People are leaving the game already because of excessive bots. removing ranks won’t keep the players here. Remove them.
Good thing they act independently and separately from each other! You aren’t matched by MMR unless you have bonus stars. So as soon as your bonus runs you’re matched by rank.
It wouldn’t make any sense at all to just put legend players and noobs in a pot and stir. Game would implode.
Just beat your blizzard bots and stop complaining.
Or, maybe we can stop arbitrarily resetting rank each month?
It’s always been odd that Blizz does this.
Just delete the star system, get a MMR, show it like they do in all the other modes. Reset that when it makes sense, like on a new set.
I’ll be honest I miss the old system that would reset the rank to 20 without any kind of star bonus.
It’s fun to me to do the entire climb from bottom to top.
For someone of your skill ceiling and floor, sure, I can see why you’d come to that.
But Its taken me every bit of my collection and knowledge gleamed from here to reach Plat 5 a few seasons ago. My all time Highest since the game launched. I’m very proud of that.
And I dont see it as participation trophy rank. It was hard earned and even harder obtained. I havent come close to it since the newest expansion has basically meant I only encounter excavation spamming. My deck can at max do 4 excavations total using all 2 neutral excavate cards being doubled up. But Warlock? That one can do it 10 tens before turn 10. Pfft.
I see what you are saying, but why do we need both Stars and MMR?
Why not just Stars below Legend?
The reason players think the game is rigged is the interplay between the two systems, I would almost guarantee it. The two together feels wanky, to say the least.
That’s YOUR opinion. Rational people understand that the game isn’t rigged. We know this because we climb back to legend each month with ease regardless of MMR or star bonus.
We had a system before without stars and it was a miserable experience for players that didn’t play 24/7. Having rank floors and a bonus gives the players that don’t play that often a sense of progression. Taking away a rating system is a VERY VERY bad idea. Would you be happy to play the Hearthstone and get paired against top players all day instead of someone of equal skill level? That doesn’t sound like the way to create a fun experience for new and/or inexperienced players.
The rank floors IS a good idea. I just think the star system on top of MMR is dumb.
Having stars by itself below legend would be sufficient.
And being nice hurts no one.
You seem to be taking this way too personally.
