Remove Emotes Option

I think there is something here to consider, something that probably crossed many other players minds, which is to enable a setting that would auto-squelch the player and the opponent from using emotes, and in addition, an absence of mouse or thumb hovering to remove the effect of seeing your heroes face blink repeatedly, along with blinking minions and hero powers.

If there is no desire for the player and/or opponent to be taunted with often demeaning emotes, then why force the player to have to remember to squelch the opponent at the beginning of every game? Even if the opponent is squelched, why allow them to hover over your face, similar to a person reaching over and across the board to poke your head in a game of chess?

The end-result is not pretty. I for one literally smashed a portion of my keys off of my keyboard, then submitted to tearing my old laptop (rip) into two halves after my opponent thanked me for buffing his minion by fault of a revealed secret on the opening release of Titans.

I would assume that I’m not the only person who feels they’ve lost a majority of their games due to their opponent using emotes to purposely piss them off. Not only is that not fun, it’s not fair that many players win most of their games when they use their emotes as a tactic to throw off their opponents emotions.

I understand that many players are excited to use their new emotes after an earned or purchased new hero. I understand that enabling a feature to block your opponents emotes would probably affect sales and profits…

But I don’t feel comfortable having to dodge emotes in every game that I play. Although, it is by choice that I play on eleven separate accounts (one for each hero obviously) daily so that I can sneak my way into a pile of loot, I don’t have the patience to evade myself from poor players that make multiple misplays, then talk trash through emotes just to rub it in my face that their Yogg Saron rolled highly.

Please consider the fact that emotes aren’t necessary, are often used in a rude manner, and are outright an annoyance that some players would rather do without.

I’m guessing there’s some sort of mod or hack that can auto-squelch a player’s opponent, but I don’t believe in-game-add-on’s are following the rules. In fact, I’d compare them running a bot, to be frank. I’m not certain what I’m asking for at this point; you guys will do what you gonna do.

oh no, speech bubble is scawy plzz remove

how about you get a grip, and not smash your keys and your laptop over a video game. If you are a grown man and partake in such activity like you described you need to stop or quit, because this is nothing but embarrassing for you.

We have been asking for a toggle option for years.
Good luck. Team5 don’t give a rat’s behind what We want.
As long as idiots open their wallets they don’t need to do anything.

Click on portrait, press squelch emotes. It takes literally less than a second each game.

You really need to find a new hobby, this one doesn’t seem to be a good fit for you anymore. Literally smashing a laptop? I think you might be the problem, not emotes.

It baffles my mind that any emotes can bother anyone, at any point.
Next, you’re going to tell me that people get triggered by the silent BGs emotes!

this is the way to fix the issues you have

This is satire right?

I just cried laughing for the first time in years.

Literally 10/10, my mood has increased significantly since reading this.

Thank you.

Dude if you’re destorying your tech over a pg rated taunt you’re a crazy person lol. You get auto squelch you’ll just transfer your cartoonish rage to something else. You need meds and a psychiatrist not auto squelch. o_0

This, and @OP if you’re bothered by ppl here calling you a man-child, well they are serial posters in a children’s cartoon card game forum … so. Maybe look upon emotes as a challenge to be a mature, responsible squelcher like the rest of us.

Auto-squelch should be a thing. It doesn’t bother me but a portion of the community has asked for it for years and it’s not hard to implement.

HOWEVER.

This guy is an unhinged lunatic and I honestly worry about them having any social interactions at all in the real world if their reaction to someone saying “thank you” after he made a mistake was tearing a laptop in half.

Not only that, they are now getting offended at knowing what the opponent’s cursor is highlighting.

I can’t even imagine how unstable someone has to be in day to day life where the mere thought of seeing an opponent’s cursor highlight just unhinges them.

Next thing you know someone is going to ask that their portrait doesn’t explode when they are defeated because it triggers them into thinking they are breaking down and dying.

My immediate response is that this is a troll and no one can really be this unhinged. But my life experience tells me people like this really do exist and they really are serious.

I’d bet there is a war veteran in this world, a legitimate hero, who doesn’t play Hearthstone because of the exploding crater.

Maybe the OP even fought a ‘war’ at some point in their life.

Gamer rage sadly is a very real thing. Now I vent and verbally complain and cry BS when something unbelievable happens but I recognize it for what it is lol. It’s meaningless venting. I don’t go on a public forum demanding changes or destroy my gaming rig over it however. lol I find taunting amusing most of the time if anything. And yes I taunt too jokingly from time to time but I also do well played on wins/losses to balance it out. Annoy o tron is just too annoying not to use. HS is such a silly care free game not embracing the insanity is its own kind of nuts. HS is not the type of game anyone should be “ultra hardcore” about imo.

Maybe stop being a salty loser and you won’t care about people emoting you. I never squelch anyone if someone spams emotes at me I couldn’t care less.

Mate this is so true.

I don’t emote at all outside of a “greetings” and “well played” at the end of the game (win or lose). If an opponent starts spam emoting me, I enjoy it and join in, it makes me laugh, I find it funny.

I have no idea how someone could possibly get so mad at a bit of funny banter.

Maybe it’s an age thing? I’m 33. I just find it amusing and silly.

I turn 33 this year lol. I am hoping to God it is a buncha kids or emotional teens getting this upset over some emotes. I wish they had age listed on this forum so I knew who to treat seriously lol.

I heard Blizz listed the age of Overwatch heroes recently and it didn’t go down well. Think they’ll be staying well clear of publishing ages in any capacity for a while.
