It’s a reason I always caution people about tossing about comments about mental health, disabilities, etc. Just because you find something “trivial” or un-noteworthy doesn’t mean it’s not a life stopping event for someone else.
You may find it funny that someone can’t deal with that plastic bag on the side of the road, until you realize there’s something in your own life you wouldn’t want people mocking you for.
It’s one of the reasons that when wow made shadows forced on for everyone, it completely screwed over a portion of the playerbase with visual disabilities and their response when they were told before during and after they implemented the change was to basically tell a portion of their playerbase to pound sand.
All the non crucial visual, audio, etc comments should have an auto toggle option. It shouldn’t require third party options (e.g. the one that they killed support for that let blind players play hearthstone), and asking for it should be controversial.
The devs can add a ton of useless features in the game and can even take the time to crank out two expansions in less than a month, the least they could do is work on some QOL features people have asked for pretty much since the game was launched.
Light knows the company could use some of the billions a year they get to make it happen.
This is ludicrous. Developers can’t account for every bit of trauma or hang ups people have. I am mentally ill myself take 5 medications a day. I still don’t throw my phone in anger. You’re painting people with mental illness as delicate fairies that can’t handle the smallest of things. It’s insulting to bring such a serious thing into such a trivial discussion. You’re a jerk for doing it.
I agree with that. I succame to PTSD from EMS work. Not everyone with a mental struggle is fragile. A lot of people trying to overcome mental hurdles are some of the stronger individuals you will come across.
I love how you can’t even provide a direct quote. Try reading it again: SOME people. Not EVERY person.
Asking the company who makes billions a year to have a simple toggle for their OPTIONAL audio and visual features isn’t some huge ask. Considering they went out of their way in the past to make their games LESS accessible. I find it strange how you’d oppose making a game more accessible.
It doesn’t make someone “delicate” to literally have some consideration in the development of the game. Supposedly, the company is all about “inclusivity” except when to actually matters in the development of their games (e.g. the aforementioned stopping of support for the app that let blind people play).
Only in modern times is having consideration for others and asking the company to actually use some of their billions each year to make their game accessible "unhinged.”
Actually you are a jerk for flaming someone who is suggesting having a little bit of empathy. As you stated you take 5 medications yourself. You should know firsthand how debilitating these issues can be. I doubt however that you struggle with mental illness at all seeing as you have zero empathy for it. If you actually do struggle with behavioral health issues you should be ashamed of your toxic attitude towards others that struggle. Its pathetic and embarrassing.
The end-result is not pretty. I for one literally smashed a portion of my keys off of my keyboard, then submitted to tearing my old laptop (rip) into two halves after my opponent thanked me for buffing his minion by fault of a revealed secret on the opening release of Titans.
HSReply has an autosquelch plugin (according to the plugin page for it) for ppl just like yourself, OP. You can be emote free to your heart’s content and not bother the game devs with something they will never have a financial incentive to implement. Unless of course you can convince enough people to PAY for an autosquelch, perhaps making it part of the perks bundle? Just spitballing at this point but the option exists already for you if you arent exclusively playing on mobile device.
I dont think there is a financial incentive for them to make an autosquelch feature, because when you get paired up against a player with a cosmetic with specially recorded for that portrait emotes, they want you to notice the difference. This is meant to incentivize you, or the royal you (all others which includes you), to want to get that portrait for yourself or another like it. Instead of the antisocial approach which is to not communicate or accept communications from any and all others. There are two methods available to do this already, right click every match, (not hard at all) and the plugin with the HSReplay tracker. If you play mostly on mobile, then long press the portrait every match and know you are making your decision to squelch and that only enough people also engaging in it manually like that will give the devs the analytics to consider what you propose. its a very long shot. but your only likely one to work outside the options already available.
