Regarding new hero skins

With all of the new hero skins being added, such as the Book of Heroes skins and the Tier 1 ones, there should really be a revamp of the heroes menu.
Currently, they’re spread out across many pages, but, in my opinion, the hero menu should function like the deck building menu in that it should show each class, each having a submenu containing each skin.
This issue, even if it seems nitpicky, will only get worse in the future, especially if each expansion follows the pattern of Darkmoon’s XP track: three unique skins for two classes, plus one for a third.

This seems like a very smart idea to me. They could even make it show like the regular card collection, with tabs on the top for each class. I definitely think that trying to keep the legacy style similar to card backs for heroes is a bad idea.

It would also be really nice if you could at least listen to the 6 vanilla emotes when trying to pick which hero you wanted to mark as your favorite, without having to test them out in an actual game (easiest method being to load up a Practice run currently). Certainly, there are other unique voice line interactions that can’t easily be previewed in that fashion (and probably shouldn’t be, to preserve an element of mystery), but there’s no reason they can’t implement that for the base level of the six emotes.

When you build a deck and go to the hero portrait section you’ll only see your unlocked heroes of that class.

I don’t really care about the hero portraits that much so I went and took a look at what you were talking about and, boy oh boy, you’re right. That could use a touch-up.

Does the text search bar work for card backs and hero skins? It’s still a clunky sorta solution which wouldn’t let you pick a class, but I think you can use the text box to search for card backs at least. I haven’t tried it out for the skins yet.

Just tested and yes, if you search for “Rexxar”, it shows Rexxar, Warsong Rexxar, Giantstalker Rexxar, and Wanderer Rexxar. If you search for “hunter”, nothing shows up, however. So, yeah, the search method is so-so, but I think with the amount of portraits that we have now (and the fact that the pace of adding them seems to be increasing significantly), it’s time to overhaul the UI and make it handle the volume of choices better. Specifically, breaking the UI down by class would help significantly.

Searching card backs for “hunter” does show “Monster Hunter”, as a side note. I think that the card back selection UI could possibly stand to be improved as well, but I don’t see any clear way to handle that, since they’re not associated to any class (ok, outside of the hero-specific card backs), so there isn’t really a good method to “organize” them by.
