As many of you know by now, you cannot really complete quests in battleground, apart from the few “win any game mode” quests.
However, to rank in battlegrounds you more or less need 2500gold to unlock your statistics and 2x the starting hero pool to choose from.
Is it just me or does that sound unfair to someone who only plays battlegrounds?
My roomate and I have been completely hyped over battlegrounds and we play it every night!
When new cards go out we always sit in the living room and spend all of out gold on card pakcs and see what eachother got, like when we were kids opening god damn pokémon card packs. (weebs, I know)
I personally saved up a little bit over 3000 gold so I could get the thrill of buying the new cards, but I mainly play battlegrounds at the moment, so spending my gold on cards seem like a waste.
On the other hand, getting a new expansion is like fun for a few weeks because you get to play the new cards. Paying ALL YOUR GOLD to play the same cards that you did a few hours ago in the battlegrounds dont seem very thrilling to me atleast.
They took away all my perks that I used a few hours ago, only to put it behind a paywall.

You are not wrong. But bear in mind their goal is to make money. Not make you happy.
Edit: just quickly tested it, startng about 20 games, the good BG heroes are also behind the paywall. Got offered only the garbage ones.

It follows their theme of 'Pay to Win". The highlander decks all use like 7+ Legendaries, which just drives you to buy more packs than the gold earn could ever pay for. Dust isn’t free, you gotta buy packs, get extra and then dust it.
Hearthstone should see an equal drop in popularity, as it becomes increasingly less friendly to new players.
On this point specifically, ya, all we can do is NOT buy it and hope they get the message. Overall popularity will drop in the game and they will try and blame marketing or some junk. “We gotta sell more bundles, make more card backs” Pfft, Classic economic theory, the more you charge, the less people who are willing or able to buy it, as price goes down, more people are willing or able to buy it. We just hit a global recession, charge more for virtual stuff.
I don’t understand how people expect them to fund balancing without adding some type of monetization. It could’ve been way worse and they could of turned it into an area paywall kind of thing. If they didn’t monitize it then we would get no new BG heroes or updates. They would invest their manhours more into ladder and more adventure bull.
It also isn’t pay to win it is basically pay to play. Since I do see the game unplayable without it imo. But the cool part is that you can choice to do it for free.
I only play bg and I was expecting to have to spend 3k gold (30 packs) to unlock bg and I just saved 3k gold. I just farm the quests in wild since I use to invest into ladder back when I was stupid.
Lets be honest how much fun do you really think you would of had with 25 packs on ladder? People have opened 5 times that amount and have been complaining about not getting enough stuff.

I played this while it was still in BETA and there was never a paywall! You got to choose between 3/4 heros (can’t remember) for FREE… Why change that? I guess when you have a good formula you can most certainly leave it to Blizz to “fix” a problem that never existed/nobody asked for it to be fixed. This is neither a campaign nor an arena, so WTF!!!
So 1. You may not enjoy ladder and solo adventures, but others do. Bashing it seems to be discounting some of the community.
2. The Perks package was 2,500 gold before the cost reduction (1,250 g), so if you bought it via gold, you would have saved 500 g, not 3,000.
3. It’s because they removed an aspect of the game and tried to sell it back to us, in an era where games are doing that left and right.
I don’t expect content to be free, but considering they split it away from pack buying means they wanted to double their cash rewards and cut our gain in half.
4. Blizzard did lower the price to a much more reasonable level. ($9.99 or 1,250 g) Evidence of both the communities willingness to not throw money at them for content they had already released to us and that their initial listing price was above market value.
It’s only halved because we’re close to a new expansion cycle, which means it’s less value at 2500g and no-one was buying because they were all waiting for the next cycle. It’ll go back up to 2500g as soon as the next expansion hits, when all the peopler that paid for it before have to pay for it again.

I will not buy it again at 2500g/$20. Didn’t get any advantage from it really. I have 2 accounts, one with and one without. I’m ranked equally on both.
I just feel like I burned 25 packs.
They should just make the price 10$/1250G for all time, not just for the remaining time of the expansion. For 10$ i would say its ok. Cause at least you dont have to spend any other money, unlike Constructed which requires insane amount of money to keep up. But 20$ is too overpriced for sure, they should just make it 10$ for good.
I personally bought the tavern pass on the discount and i’d say its worth it. Plus the 4 arena runs will get you more packs on average compared to just buying packs with 10 bucks.
you didn’t get to choose between three or four for free, you had to open a certain amount of packs to get those perks. it’s never been ‘free’, buddy.
Yeah, only getting to chose from 2 Heroes is really crippling.
I noticed P2Ws get heavily favored when recruiting and very lucky.
I’m not going to pay yo win. I was doing BGs for 2 weeks and liked it before the nerfs and P2W wall.
Ranked in a casino game? The lengths blizz goes to to get money baffles me.
