Wow, Gotta be kidding me,… grave runes X reborn X psychic split? I knew this was coming… and they have a prime that can be buffed but not removal targeted! And please cut the crap about deck winrates, Priest has all new cards of course there’s gonna be a learning curve. Thoughts?
Resurrect Priest has the least new cards from all Priest archetypes. If learning curve was the real issue, then it should have the best winrate of all Priest decks (it doesn’t).
Priests biggest issue, is that its boring to play against… Very little thought and effort goes into playing priest… Basically stall the game and win lategame…
The fact that so many people are auto conceding speaks volumes to where this mechanic is currently. A concede is a win and if it annoys someone along the way, I’m sure that bolsters their egos just as much.
Rez Priests are today’s go to decks for lower levels as it annoys the living snot out of people who can’t just deck shift ad nauseam like those being sponsored or have stupid amounts of disposable income to use on something that will never have monetary value ever again… But I’ll avoid the rant.
A deck with a winrate that crappy should not be getting played as often as it does. This causes me to think that a lot of people are just playing it for the laughs now as they’ve reached whatever tier they wanted.
Don’t get me wrong. Play however the game lets you play, that’s fine. We can always ask for the game to change.
You might be onto something here. According to HSReplay data, the popularity of Resurrect Priest as an archetype goes up at rank floors compared to the rank ceiling immediately before it. The increase is small, but the same pattern repeats throughout the ladder.
It’s important to keep in mind, however, that even accounting for these slight bumps, Resurrect Priest remains a not very popular deck, with its peak popularity being 3% of decks (at Gold 10).
dont know how often you play your priest res deck to see so many conceding agaisnt you
i havent played one but sometimes because of bad card draws it looks like im running one (meaning no minion played until turn 5)
never had anyone conceding
im more likely to have someone concede agaisnt me if im using my warrior or hunter decks
Resurrect Priest is around the 1-3% mark. Galakrond Priest, by comparison, makes up roughly 7-9% of the meta at any given rank. Throw in the odd Highlander/Tempo deck and you’ll be close to 15%.
Turn 5 Shield of Galakrond buying time
Turn 6 Shield of Galakrond and Renew Buying time
Turn 7 Renew Penance Penance - Ah just what the Priest needs.
10 cards into a 30 card deck. Priest was down to 4 health back up to 13.
Turn 8 Convincing Infiltrator with Apothesis, a 4/9 life steal taunt.
Wins the game because to take it out the Priest gets 12 life back. I dont attack hoping I can draw more direct damage next turn as I have the Priest down to 1 health.
Turn 9 another Renew plus more health gain Priest back up to 10 with the 6/9 (another apotheosis) Lifesteal Convincing Infiltrator Taunt on the board.
The RNG is like Clock Work. No worries or thinking ahead needed.
Very little thought effort goes into the majority of HS decks - that’s why it did so well. There are a few exceptions throughout the years, but largely it’s very straightforward.
You should try playing Priest. Short of a random Holy Ripple, we literally can’t deal one damage from hand because the dev team thought it wasn’t fitting for the class identity.
And yes, buying time is what control decks try to do. They need so much healing because the game always has incredibly powerful aggro decks that can still force you into a losing situation by turn three.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Are all of you people serious right now? How about you just learn how to play, a couple silencers and you’re golden, silence a few of their essential minions and 99% of the priests start crying and quit! Why don’t you cry about real hands that are hard to beat, the whining about this is getting OLD. But still entertaining, for now…
I think its annoying… and the games take longer than avg. I’m only asking for balance. There is no other class mechanic that gets more love than Priest Res… anytime another class benefits too much from neutral cards they get nerfd. Leave Res Priest broken for all I care, I just wanna tools of similar consistency for other classes too, namely Shaman!
Imagine making your deck worse by adding owl as a tech against priest, when it doesn’t do anything to counter it
I think that a better counter than silence (which doesn’t do anything unless it’s hex or polymorph, which isn’t silence) it’s the 4 mana 4/9 taunt that summons 3 1-drops for your opponent.
It’s not useless against other decks and it has good stats.
We already have a lot of tools to pollute the ress poll (at least 3 in standard).
I wish i can find the 3 mana 3/3 classic legendary: i would add it to all my highlander decks as a cool anti ress tech (i already have leeroy and zephrys, but this would be a cool addiction)
Indeed… Priest is a garbage, annoying, brain-dead class as it stands, and any player who plays it should be shipped to Outland to live out the rest of their days there.
I think the devs might think these mechanics are fun to play against for some reason, but I highly doubt that any of them played long enough or constantly against it to the point where it becomes down right infuriating… Then they’ll understand.
But there are solutions… Not talking about decks that counter it, but a fundamental re-design to the class to make it fun: Res, Reborn, and Galakrond can have limitations for eg. Remove certain cards like Thoghtsteal and Convincing Infiltrator,…etc. There is a lot can be done, so it’s not the most hated class in the game…
That is one “solution,” I guess. If you take away all of Priest’s decent cards, it’ll be even easier to beat. I guess that’s fun for some people (as long as you don’t play Priest).
Snark aside, your suggestions aren’t going to change a thing. People are still going to rant and rave about Priest because for all the anger people express about getting beat on turn 5 by hyper aggressive decks, most Hearthstone players have no issue playing as a class that can beat you by turn 5. But Priest has the best tools (at the moment) to neutralize aggro, so even if you remove Thoughtsteal, Convincing Infiltrator, and any other card people find annoying, people will still complain because Priest’s design fundamentally undermines the “win-before-turn-10” mentality so many people seem to prefer.
There, is nothing wrong with the way Priest plays VS aggro, the problem is the Res mechanic is severely broken. Here’s an analogy, Choosing Priest is like choosing Yoshi in Mario Kart… Well round, middle of the road stats but then image only Yoshi could discover the Blue Spiked shell that targets the leader Kart! The res mechacanic is super powerful on its own but then you give them “Neutral Cards” like Khartut Defender that has solid as a rock stats and amplifies 2 of Priest’s class identities [healing/res]… it’s not fair.
But fine, Keep your broken Res, I’m cool with dealing with it but give other classes just as powerful class identity mechanics. Totem Shaman is a joke, they give us 1 or 2 cards to play with at a time and the are always weak in base power. Elemental Shaman has never been a thing and its one of the classes traits. Then there’s overload Shaman, trash. I’m a Shaman primary, so there are my beefs but I’m sure other classes have reasons to be envious of Priest’s Res mechanic, except maybe Deathrattle hunter. #SezWhoRight
