Potential Warlock Nerf; Need More Data

Edit: I am jumping the gun, I realize, and so clearly need more time and data to determine what, if anything, needs to be done about this deck or any other. This is not an admission that I’m necessarily wrong, but that I cannot say for certain that I’m right.

I am a warlock player, and so should be biased in favor of warlock being powerful. However, there is a serious issue right now with the class: Imp Warlock. This deck consistently builds highly stat’d boards far too early in matches at which point opponents simply cannot have an answer.

Don’t hate the player – hate the game. And I don’t hate the game, but it is not the fault of the player that this deck is overpowered. And it should not be surprising that in a competitive environment, players are utilizing the best tools at their disposal.

I am playing Imp Warlock, because I am a warlock player, and am currently 9-1 and climbing. I will add images of these outrageous boards that this deck can summon below.

I think the location and the draw spell are going to be heavily looked at for a nerf possibility.

I played a warlock who had drawn his entire deck on turn 7.

I’m so conflicted, Schyla… I feel like I’m cheating using this deck… But, I’m a warlock player, and always have been.

Sigh.

And, here’s another example…

I feel like I cannot lose.

It’s definitely a strong deck. You have to build a pure control deck or freeze deck to shut it down.

You need to be able to wipe the board like 6-8 times in the early to mid game, which is ridiculous.

In all honesty, the only deck that gives me trouble is Mech Mage! Mecha-Sharks are very effective against my imps.

I’m at 11-1.

I hope so. I’ve never made it before. So far, I’m at P10.

Edit: Welp, just lost to a mirror. I didn’t draw my location. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: What’s really annoying are these mirrors. It’s whoever draws their location first, and who goes first.

i’m like 3:4 against them, unfavored for sure, but unless they highroll the 4 imps+location in t3 or so, it is winnable if i get a good draw as well.

the location may be looked at, maybe a mana increase to 3 or something. I dont think i have issue with their draw even if it is the best draw card ever printed in HS imo.

I should include a few replays. While the location is paramount, it isn’t the deck’s only means of victory. It has other means for buffs, immense draw, and its ability to throw out board after board, and these are powerful boards, is not right.

And another insane board. Turn 3!

can’t say I disagree, I’m on a 15 win streak with it.

I do OK against it with Evolve Shaman.

Evolve Shaman is also decent against Mage as long as you can avoid the Rune Parrot loops.

And if people hate Imps, and they nerf Warlock but leave Evolve Shaman alone to be the Trilogy to Uldum and Darkmoon, things could get ugly.

somehow so far i did not struggle much vs the imps, but then i mostly play priest these days…

my imp deck gets rolled by aoe priests and paladins running heals with dragon damage heal

This is an insta-concede deck for me if I see it. Completely untested garbage released by Blizz again, as is tradition at the start of every expansion.

Beast hunter rolls over this deck without blinking. Actually any deck with decent early board presence is doing good against it.

It’s just like playing vs old warlock zoo.

Stop whining over nothing.

I the only person dealing with it just fine?

Well…
Gonna wait data to talk about but if that many people are having dificult against it will probably be nerf anyway since only 1/2 matchups stopping a deck isn’t good for the game.

This post has garnered over 20,000 views on Reddit! I truly hope this gains more traction, and that these vicious and destructive plays are tuned down. At turn 3, I should not have four 1/1s, a 9/8, and another powerful minion upcoming once my location cools down.

lol this game is a joke now, It’s like they don’t even care about play testing, balance and design anymore, What will make people buy more packs, lets making something really powerful to get more sales, player base be damned. It’s honestly laughable how amauer the approach to expansions is now.

That’s the truth, really. Cards are released broken. Cards are then “toned down”. In doing this, it allows for the next expansion to, again, release similarly broken cards that players need in order to compete: thus, buying packs. It’s the way of CCGs.
