Or at least lets do a survey to see if ppl like this more than normal Arena. Mention before already, reduce randomness please, do not create modes that are purely based on rng. If i want to play lotto i would not install HS…
We already know from Firestone Stats that it’s not popular. But Blizzard already announced they will keep the dual class arena throughout the next expansion.
I’ve also spent way less money in the Arena since dual class than usual.
Thanks for the info. Next question is why do they want to kill this game?
Can you or anyone post a link for a Firestone game mode popularity graph for 2024 during the dual class Arena seasons?
In 2023, there was a big upsurge in the popularity of Arena. I have not seen any data for how Arena is doing in 2024.
I really like Dual-Class Arena.
I do not have it. I personally do not like dual class arena but am open for different opinions. Ofc if more ppl like it they should push it more.

Thanks for the link!
It’s possible that you have not interpreted the data correctly, because there is an upsurge in the popularity of Dual Class Arena just prior to the reopening of the CN server and a large downtick for Arena on the other servers as Chinese players migrate back to their own server, where Dual Class Arena is currently the 2nd most popular mode.
Thanks, but since i am partially color blind i am not sure if i am looking at the rigth data for Arena xD
Is Arena the one that dropped in August and another bigger drop 15 days ago? And do we know for how long we have Dual-class Arene so far?
Well, you can compare it with Firestone from 4 months ago. Arena was almost always the most popular mode over several months. And you can tell from the current graph that all game modes declined proportional to each other. The chinese players left the region entirely, not only for the Arena. So the relation between the game modes still is representative since they declined equally.
Ya, the graph that you linked, shows that when the Dual Class Arena events/seasons started in July, it created an upsurge in Arena’s popularity throughout July and August as players checked out the changes to Arena, which included a new barcode jail for super-drafters. So you just provided evidence that Dual Class Arena dramatically increased Arena’s popularity for a few months.
Generally, Standard and Battlegrounds are vying for the most popular mode, but during special Arena events, Arena can peak above one of the other popular modes.
Look at a graph of 2023, where Arena peaks above Battlegrounds because of the Halloween Dual Class event, which stated October 27 and went into November. That Dual Class event rekindled interest in Arena for many players.

But that is for a short period of time. Ppl probably like to play one rotation with dual class, but after pushing it over several months it becomes boring.
Not at all. You have to look at the months just before and not one year ago.

Arena was most of the time the most popular game mode, constantly around 40-55k of played hours. It stayed on top all the time. Since Dual Class, Arena had several downfalls without stabilizing ever. It’s now close to dual class BG and 10k hours apart from ranked.
In the previous time-frame it ended up above ranked, being the most popular game mode for over a month.
I don’t remember if that 2023 Dual Class event was that I liked or not. There was one such event where the card pool was awful for Dual Class. That 2023 event may have triggered an uptick in Arena’s popularity, but its popularity continued to increase greatly after the Dual Class event ended on November 5th.
As far as I remember Dual Class 2023 suffered from the same symptom: Short peak in the beginning, then downfall. And it’s worth mentioning that back then people got a free arena ticket, which explains the big spike at the beginning. Even people usually not playing Arena wanted to grab their free pack.
Good point.
I knew Arena was a lot more popular in 2024, and I said as much in a couple of my Arena threads, but I had not seen a graph to confirm this until today.
I had noticed a lot more of my Hearthstone friends were playing a lot of Arena this year.
I know it is a small sample size https:/ /www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1g18afd/arena_mode/
It would not let me cast a vote about dual-class arena on that Reddit linked survey.
One of the reasons for why I like dual-class arena is that about half of the classes in any given arena meta perform in a subpar way, and the dual-class options quite often mitigates being stuck having to draft a full deck of cards from a bad class or card pool.
That is strange.
I mean, thats why you have neutral cards. And if you are talking about weak class for a certain Arena rotation, based on hsreplay stats we never had this low procentage classes like now, so i do not think you can fix bad classes that much by selecting 1 bad and 1 good.
It think the picking a good class to help mitigate the negative card pool of a bad class is quite significant. I’d rather not have to pick most my cards from an inferior card pool.
There is a definite give-and-take to the dual class system, because it can make certain synergistic drafting strategies more difficult to achieve, because the draft is going offer less good cards from a particular class. But some new and different kinds synergistic possibilities become available, like getting 2 to 3 Harbinger of Winter to help draw frost spells in a DK-M draft, etc…
Duel class drafting is a more complicated process for obtaining synergy-based decks, which is why some players have a harder time drafting and succeeding the dual-class format.
