Please disable use of emoticons during Battleground turns to prevent toxicity

He has depression. Brain is too vulnerable and complex. He has a perspective in a way, and when he can’t deal with the problem to an extreme point, you understand what happened. He just can’t get through and live, it’s a mental problem, there is no cure because it’s all his way of life, and when it CANNOT be done in his desired way, he definitely have to believe whatever happened. But video games mainly creates problems, they don’t solve problems.

you are always so close man to understanding my side. this is the essence of why i think we should have auto squelch.

again this is why its up to game devs to make games more inclusive not exclusive. even though it is a minority of players, emotes have a negative impact on some players experience, because “Brain is too vulnerable and complex.”

That’s what I mean. Video games cause problems. Losing a game is way more frustrating than seeing some emotes spams. If these things can be squelched, everyone will and eventually it will get removed because nobody uses it. And Tavern Upgrades and special Hero Power must be seen, this is BG logic and it is still in beta. Play constructed if an “in construction” mode is bothering.

And squelch should only happen if someone uses emote more than 5 times. Unless someone is toxic on their own, they wouldn’t squelch a non-spammer.

this is not universally true, losing doesn’t bother everyone, just like BM doesn’t bother everyone. if a player perceive emotes as BM that can infinitely more frustrating then losing.

if you think so many people would use auto squelch that emotes would become pointless, then the emote system has already failed.

all this forced interaction feels very harassmenty.

Just limit it to 5 uses then. And each use have to wait 5 seconds. If people are annoyed this much, they are also toxic because if someone hates characters on a cartoon book, this reflects them as bullies who likes to insult people. Psychology is actually related to personality.

or we could just let the minority of people who want auto squelch have auto squelch and let everyone else emote. kinda feels win win, especially since the person emoting doesn’t even have to know they are squelched

All the peeps that are against autosquelch should ask themselves why they want ppl to suffer for 0 reason. This change only affects the person using autosquelch. This is 100% undeniable. No player ever knows if they are squelched or not just like the regular game.

“yes they are. neither of those statements add tangible help…”
it’s like saying a sick person to go to see a doctor. The end goal is to get well again, but I am not saying just “stop being sick”. That’s just trying to construct a narrative that was never mine. It’s not tangible help, it’s an advice, but neither the squelch is. Squelch option is just a momentary pain killer until they find another thing to be bothered by.

“do you have anger problems?”
Why does it matter?

“this is an argument for mass squelch not against it. right now blizzard is pandering to people who want emotes, for no other reason then they want them.”
No, it’s not. Devs made that feature by their own free will without people asking for it as the only means for random players to interact with each other in a multiplayer game.

“do you think reckfull would have not killed himself if someone told him to " deal with social issues”
Sadly, it’s pretty obvious that Reckful didn’t learn how to deal with his issues before it was too late and it spiraled out of control as it usually goes with mental health problems. It wouldn’t help him if someone said it. It would help if he actually did it and if people around him encouraged him more it may end up differently.

“do you think that is the problem with america right now. no one is telling to people to “deal with social issues”?” It is a big part of it. We are having it as good as people ever had it, technically. It’s not perfect, yet the standard we are living in is pretty high and there was never a stronger push for inclusivity, representation, pandering to people’s most trivial whims and happiness is on the decline, mental illness is on the rise and so is the suicide rate. Going baby rage over vague, non-intrusive emotes is a warning sign that there are deeper issues, and no, those signs should not be removed so that people can be lulled into fake peace for a while.

This is the best thing I’ve read in the forums today. I agree completely.

edit: Warning you now that I might steal that for my response to a lot of people from now on. “You are that far down the rabbit hole. It will not make the GAME any better.”

This is the problems, paying money doing nothing. It won’t make the game better, either remove it or don’t. I wouldn’t pay for emotes if people actually can’t see them. Just limit them at 3 per game, unless someone is mentally ill or is also toxic they wouldn’t do it.

I think more options is better.

Indeed, what an ego the guy has.
